We lost 50 thousand, I lost all of my savings, and my xbox, which was like what I really liked.

Time to start saving up for another xbox, however long that takes... :(
Sorry I just need to vent.

What happened is that a thief broke a window with a rock and got inside, he ransacked the house, taking an xbox, several computers, a few hundred in bills, and all of my mom's jewelery.
Everything was well hidden and all, but yeah. My mom was at the gym and my dad was at work, so we still have the personal info and all.

Sorry to hear about that, mate:(

Why did you keep so much money in your house and not a bank?

    You eligible for any insurance?

I didn't keep 50k, it was my mom's jewels and computers + electronics. And yes, but I'm not sure how much :S

Dude.. that totally sucks :( I'm sorry to hear that.

I guess in the future try to obstain from leaving expensive jewellry and electronics lying around in the open when you are not home. Also, be extra mindful about locking your doors and windows, and/or creating an "illusion" that you are home (I do this sometimes). Like leave a light on, park a car in the driveway etc. Maybe a home security alarm system would be a good idea too.

Did you have a safe or anything?

Must have been a lot of jewelry and electronics to amount to 50k. You might also want to make sure that they didn't take passports, credit cards, bank statements, anything that contains personal information because you can lose a lot more than 50k if they steal your identity.

Ouch, I'm sorry to hear that dude.
We've been broken into twice, but they have done it while we were asleep, once when I was young (he came up stairs and my dad kicked him down the stairs) another about a year ago but we always have an alarm on while we sleep so they never manage to get anything.
If you had insurance you should have the money soon :)

    If not then ouch :/

Very, very unlucky, puts a damper on Christmas too..

I think you should get a burglar alarm, really does help.

I'm assuming you were away while your parents are away at gym and work.

Best advice I can give right now is tighten up your security around the area, make some neighbors, and whenever you guys are going for a short break or long vacation, ask your neighbors to look after the house for you, as in not live in your house, but you know... "look" after your house.

Get alarms, and harder glass windows. Because if a window can even be smashed by a rock, that must be a pretty weak window. I'd suggest a window that can even sustain a few hammer hits.

FacePalm . If a window can be smashed by rock that doesn't make it weak . . .
Last I checked most windows were made of glass , the thing that breaks fairly easily .
