Allow Sectionals to Issue TwC's

In summary, it took admins 4+ days to issue a TwC to a user after a sectional deemed it worthy. Why not just let the sectionals issue the TwC's themselves? I don't mean to rag on admins, I know they have a lot to do, especially with Govind's resignation

Thoughts?

 

I think the reason TWC's were only ever applied by Admins is because the "TWC" comes alongside a Usergroup in itself. To further elaborate on what a Usergroup is - it's a way to segregate members to give them say specific benefits, extended forum visibility, a rank, or even moderation powers. For example, $5 donators are all in the same Usergroup, Runescape Moderators are in a specific Usergroup, and so are Official Middlemen.

If Sectionals, or even Globals, were given the ability to apply Trade With Caution ranks this would mean giving them the ability to shift a member into the Trade With Caution Usergroup, which in turn would mean they can access Usergroup Moderation - and that's only available within the AdminCP (which comes with administrative powers).

I could be completely wrong and misinformed, but this is how I understand the situation

The temporary issue of not having a lot of admin power is hopefully going to be solved soon. I don't know if we really need to shuffle power around just for this one incident that will hopefully last less than a week.

 

It's not about govind's resignation. I've just noticed that twc requests take a while to get processed in general. This has been going on for a while

 

Well then, as long as it doesn't really allow potential abuse of the AdminCP, I agree it should be done. Taking out unneeded kinks is not a bad thing.

 

Meh, I think it's fine the way it is. We've just been lacking manpower on staff recently which should be resolved sooner rather than later.

 

Personally I think Administrative powers should remain with administrators.

 

^I think that Matthew could make a TWC giving mod such like the donor rank selecting mod. I don't see why globals shouldn't be able to do this.

 

I dont think he did change the administrative ability to give members different ranks; he changed the ability to change your OWN rank.. which is a completely seperate permission.

Issuing TwC's for a global would mean administrative powers given to them; The ability to choose your own rank is a normal/pseudo-administrative power that is just off by default.

 

Just like Globals have the perm to fully ban an account, they should have the perms to slap TWC.

It would be faster and there are no real cons.

 

I'm fairly sure that the ranks are a custom mod because vb does not support giving people ranks unless you give them another usergroup. Maybe I'm wrong but I'll still ask Matt when I see him.

 

Could it be done with relatively the same process as say banning a user maybe?
By banning a Member, it automatically shifts them in to a new Usergroup as well as applies a rank... maybe an option within Modcp could be created?
