Display Name Question

Okay so when I had the name in-game it says unable to add friend - unknown player. But when I try to change my name to it it says it's taken? What would cause this?

 

I'm slightly confused by what you mean but if you mean your trying to change your name to something, and it's taken, means somebody else has that name that you want

No when you add the name in-game it still says it's unkown.

 

Have you spelt the name correctly? If not, I'm not too sure, sorry.

 

It could be filtered. There are some names I want that aren't avaliable, but no one has them.

 

I can see why they may filter some names but there's no reason to filter this one.

Basically, it is offensive to be viewed by the public or their banned.

I don't quite understand what you are getting at here... do you mean the system doesn't seem to recognize certain names you've typed in, even though they are available and you know nobody has them?

It might just be an error with Jagex's system.. who knows. I was trying to add this guy the other day though and it was the weirdest thing. His name was fairly simple and I was 100% sure I had it spelled correctly, right number of spaces etc. but I could not add him to my friends list for the life of me.

 

The accounts are most likely banned or manually deleted by jagex (if it's a rare name that was recovered that's a possibility).
