I broke my pinky playing dodgeball in gym, they threw a rubber ball, I didn't even know they were throwing it. Btw, it's on my left hand and I write with my left hand L.

Do you not have ACC coverage? I wouldn't have a clue of what the equivalent is where you live, but it's basically coverage for accidents and injuries inflicted by such accidents.
And $7k seems rather pricey regardless?? Why is it costing so much?

Did you know, if you had to get a finger removed, the best one is your ring finger, you need you little finger for holding stuff. Try holding something without your little finger, and then without your ring finger. But yeah, have you got healthcare insurance of some sort?

Wow, I'm assuming you live in the United States?? I always take minor injuries and stuff like that for granted here in Canada.. its completely free to have surgeries like that.

$7000 just seems a tad on the expensive side too... $7k to do what exactly, rebreak the pinky to set the bones in place, then wrap a tight cast around it? That really sucks man, maybe your parents can take out a loan or something to get it paid for :( And I feel for you man - I broke my right wrist when I was younger and I had to become temporarily ambidextrous (although I've lost the ability to write well with my left hand again as its been years). Good luck.

If you did it at a school I'm pretty sure they're obligated to pay for it, the same for an actual gym

Yeah, if you were in your school they are obligated to pay for accidents. I would push it at your school board and if they said no then possibly look for counsel. Otherwise then your are just kind of screwed, but then again you should try and find another surgeon to do it and see if they will work with you.

If they say no, you could always sue and get much more than 9000$ lol.

Schools are obligated to pay for these type of situations regardless of the incident . It happened on their property like you stated .

I see, but the metal ones are much better. From the picture it looks like you have a piece of cloth, or cotton in between your pinky and ring finger, and tape wrapped around it. If that works for you, great, but if it starts to wear off those metal, padded ones are terrific.

Buy some ice lollies and eat them.
Wash the sticks on them and put them on your finger, wrap some of it in celotape (around your finger and sticks) but leave enough room for your finger to get a little air, then bandage it to your other finger to keep it straight with the other, expect a little pain.

I've broken many, many bones because of Judo, when I break a finger they normally put what I just said on and then say go the hospital after, but I never do as it dies the trick (it has done for the past 8 breaks).

I'll draw a picture for you when I get on a pc (on phone atm).

It's ridiculous! In the UK your generally covered by the NHS for free surgery. Paying $7k is outrageous for a surgery on a broken finger.

What do you and your family plan on doing?

What the fuck did you do to make it cost $7,000?

As for right now: I'm no doctor but my guess is be patient. I don't think there is much you can do. Maybe fashion your own cast? Google it.

    That sucks bro!

Maybe you could contact a surgeon a bit further from where you live?

    $7k is too much.
