Drinking age - 18 or 21?

That would do absolutely nothing to eliminate immature drinkers. Have you ever been to a college party? That guy bumping into everything, puking on himself and trying to fight people has a high school diploma. That other guy who pissed himself before passing out? Yep, high school graduate. Maturity varies from person to person. Their age and level of education has nothing to do with it after a certain point which is well below the current drinking age in America.

 

I agree, I just was throwing an idea out there. I would much rather be around a college man drinking than a high school drop out.

The whole maturity argument is flawed and quite frankly irrelivent. I know tons of 21 year old drinkers who act just as stupid as 18 year old drinkers. Hell I know some 50 year olds.

Everyone needs to stop making stupid arguments about maturity. USA is the only country in the world with a 21 year old drinking age. Enough said.

 

16= beer 18=alchohol

 

Whether we like it or not kids are binge drinking at 16 these days. I think the drinking age being 18 which it is in Australia is a perfect age.

He means beer at 16 and hard liquor(i.e. vodka, rum, whiskey, etc.) at 18. Use your heads people...

 

possibaly if it was rated by the % as in 6% and under 16+ and more than 6% at the age of 18 or above

 

Using adopting children, buying cigarettes and dieing for your country is not a good example. Honestly, they need to be put up in age.

Its 18 where I live, I think it should be bumped up to 25. Young people aren't responsible enough

 

its 18 here. I think 19 in every other province in canada if im correct. I think its a good drinking age.

 

Bumping up the drinking age wouldnt solve a thing, in my province its 19 and I personally think thats fine.

 

I feel like the reason why we have so many drunk idiot kids is because of this limit. do you really think it would be so popular if kids had been drinking since childred (wine at dinner, etc.) with their parents?

 

I would have to say as young as possible with varying levels of restrictions like many European countries have. If you make it something that isn't bad or against the rules, it become less fun.

 

I like how it is in canada, you can drink at 19 legally everywhere, 18 in ottawa and quebec, and you can smoke from 16 anywhere legally.

I can agree with that. Lots of people I know say once you turn 21 it takes a lot of the fun out of drinking. So having you start young, learn responsible drinking, and take the risk of drinking underage out of the equation, you form responsible drinking. It may take until the next generation, but the benefit is much greater than the cost.

 

In my country it's 18, but it actually doesn't really matter, because if you are not 18, and you wan't to get drunk, you will get booze, easily.

 

Exactly. Allow parents to teach their children responsibility instead of them hiding it and getting wasted.
