I would have to agree with R2P, with the bots gone, followed by the mass exodus of accounts and membership, it is very unlikely that Gold Buyers will be touched since they are desperate for members at the moment.

**On a side note it is possible to track how many active subscriptions that Jagex has now that Jagex made their high-scores members only. All you have to do is go to the last page on Highscores.

In Nov they had 540K Subs, there are currently floating around 677K subs. Their gamble in attacking bots seems to be paying off as legit players are slowly returning to Runescape over winterbreak and enjoying a mostly bot-free zone.

Things are looking up for RWTers if only Jagex would quit resetting the banks of major sellers to show who wears the pants in the relationship.

I think that not banning gp buyers is to prevent accidental bans when people recieve gifts rather than keeping them playing.

Instead of following accounts who trade large quantities of GP daily wouldn't it be more pro-efficient to follow an IP of a suspected RWT account(s) ?

They said they got rid of the bots mostly because of the massive gold farms in china etc. who sell all the gold.
So they definitely are not 2 completely different aspects.

Lastly, RWT is always easy to get away with if you know what you're doing.

Now that mass gp merchers know they can be watched, surely they won't do instant trades of let's say 2B with level 3s and such anymore. (hopefully?)

In conclusion I'm positive they do want to get rid of RWTers on a large schale. Such as the chinese sites etc. But RWT will always exist.

Nice post overall, but you said Jagex doesn't ban the bigger rwt'ers. I got banned on my mule with 1.7B

The F2P limit applies only to newly created characters. Old characters created before the update can trade without P2P.

As I said in my earlier post, I agree that Jagex would LIKE to get rid of sellers (Chinese in particular). However, they will NOT do this by targeting the customers of gold sites. That is what this post explains. And in the long run, if the bot removal truly works, then at some point it will become profitable for real people to gold farm on Runescape. Originally this was not viable because bots drove down prices. That would be an interesting thing to see on Runescape. Botting is related to RWT, but is not necessary for RWT to function.

Jagex realizes by now that RWT is going to happen no matter what. It happened in Bounty Hunter, it happened through the Grand Exchange when Bounty Hunter was removed, and it will continue to happen no matter what update is made. The best they can do is try and make it somewhat difficult for sellers to turn a profit by deleting their banks when possible.

I do remember reading an article a few years ago about how MMOs NEEDED underground markets to survive in the long-run. A functioning underground market means the game is alive and healthy. It allows all sorts of players to compete, not just those who can play 12 hours a day.

Bots were the problem. No only were they were ruining the gameplay experience, but they were also collapsing the underground market. Gold was dropping in value with no end in sight.

You say RWTers vs Non RWTers is like comparing F2P to P2P but the option to go P2P is provided by Jagex, its still in the same box while the option to RWT is provided by a third party which goes outside the box, I think its two different things. If Jagex was out to make money, they would sell gold themselves which would essentially be making them 10x the money they make now but would run down the game in a few years time

I was actually wondering about this, great explanation. Hopefully the market will be back up to what it used to be soon.

Great written thread. My question to you is. If I have a gold farm holding account with lets say, 4bill, is it more likely to be banned when trading? I understand that buying is secure because of what you stated, but are the big traders in a higher amount of danger?

Well in my opinion jagex love making money as any business does , But they are not battling real world trade to piss off players and make the game less enjoyable they are doing it hence the fact that some big sellers , Such as yourself are making HUGE amounts of income ; Im sure you make in the 5 Figures a month , And they don't want people making more then they do off there game lol .. And as to rollbacks they probably create a fake transaction with buyers/sellers to attempt to link all their accounts , But they have been targeting big traders alot recently .. Let's hope they go back to the days when they neglected mass rwt

There are 680k Members, on avg paying $6 a month .. thats $4M a month. No RWTers can compare lol. They will most likely neglect it over the winter-break as everyone returns to RS.

Just a heads up, my bank was rolled back today and I have done no more than 500m RWT in the last month. I bought 50m last night, gave 20m to one of my friends accounts and when I came on this morning I was reset to 0. So maybe they are paying closer to attention to all RWT, however I will still be RWTrading just moving my money between more accounts.
