PlayerAuctions = RWT?

So recently Jagex has been pushing down on RWTers. A couple months ago, they even sued Gold4rs for their website.

But I've been thinking....why doesnt Jagex stop PlayerAuctions? PA has steadily grown into probably the biggest organized RuneScape blackmarket. And its website is run by native English-speaking people, not some random Chinese company in China.

On PA, rsgp, items, and accounts are sold every minute. If Jagex wanted to put a huge dent in the RWTing problem, they would try to stop PA.

So, what I'm asking is, why doesn't Jagex stop PA?

 

Eliminating PA would put a huge dent in RWT problems. I think one reason Jagex aren't trying to take legal actions against them yet is they are still collecting stronger evidence because it isn't exactly easy to obtain evidence for RWT. Also, PA has enough money to know how to fight out of a lawsuit, and Gold4rs does not want to fight it because they are pretty greedy.

Some thoughts I had as to why they haven't done anything against PA. ^

 

Gold4rs does have enough money, they are a company with a million dollar turnover every year. They just choose not to waste it in pointless lawsuits and just change their name.

And there are no real laws against trading of virtual items for money so PA is in the clear.

Yea, PlayerAuctions doesn't handle anything belonging to Jagex. All they do is keep track of trades for a fee. I don't think there's anything Jagex could sue them for.

 

As others said PA is like Ebay , Ebay are not fully responsible for everything sold on there site , PA does not distribute gold/items .

Also, if you look on the PA site, many games have been able to opt out of sales on PA.

 

Gold4rs got stopped cuz they used the word rs in their domain. Jagex seized their entire domain. They can't do that with PA, although I'm sure they'd like to

 

Hey I have a question. I believe I have a virus with a keylogger, but I was thinking....

I bought 30m recently via PlayerAuctions and spent it except for 15m on nature runes and items for high alching....

My computer crashed on me (the virus) and when I finally got logged back in I was in edgeville (where you respawn when you die) with no money in my coin purse (I had 15m) and no nature runes (I had nearly 100k nature runes) and no items to alch.

It seems like everything I lost was stuff I bought with the 30m transaction....

At first I thougth I died, but don't you keep coins in your coinpurse when you die? i guess the nature runes make sense....

Do you think it's possible that Jagex found out that I used PA to buy gold and decided to punish me by taking the stuff I bought with it and leaving me iwth 1gp?

I didn't think they operated like that.... Hmm, maybe I was hacked...

Ye gold4rs only got downed cause of domain name.

I remember when I started selling on PA in february, there were only like up to 5 gold sellers max x.D

Xploit: Jagex doesn't rollback GP on so small transactions. You were most likely keylogged.

 

PA is only a middleman site and not breaking any copyrights.

 

PA doesnt actually hold the gp.

 

PA isn't doing anything illegal, thats why Jagex aren't able to take them down.

 

This will not be happening anytime soon.

Jagex can only take action under certain content that falls under the DMCA. The chance of PlayerAuctions being taken down has the same possibility as a camel walking through the eye of a needle.
