Thoughts on? I may be looking to downgrade from the super beast Windows PC as I am not into games as much as I used to be.

Its good but lacking in fn like LAN etc. I have a 13" and simply love its portability. Win Ultrabooks are similarly priced but you won't have the same experience.

I'm really keen on a mac laptop, I want a cheap one but also one with some power behind it.

Cheap and powerful are not words typically used to describe anything that is Apple branded.

I was really keen on a Macbook Pro for the longest time, but the more I thought about it the more I realized how stupid of a decision it would be. If you are on a budget, Macs just simply aren't a good choice. To get anything worth having you're going to be looking at paying upwards of $1400-$2000 to get similar specs to a Windows laptop of half that cost. Yes they look amazing, but in the end how much does the appearance of the laptop effect your overall experience? I'm huge on aesthetics and even I can't justify paying twice as much for an Apple laptop just because of some brushed aluminum. The only justifiable reason to going down that path IMO is if you want to actually use the Mac-exclusive programs for video/audio editing or something.

In the end, Macs are not much more than a status symbol or a thing for hipsters to latch onto because it makes them feel "creative" or something. :/

I just prefer the Mac for some reason. I have both PC and Mac, I'm just looking at scaling down to a laptop. It's just cleaner and nicer for me, I get what you're saying though.

Please don't waste your money. There are plenty of other laptops that are 10X better then a MacBook. It is not worth spending a extra thousand dollars for a dumb apple icon.

I prefer using mac commands I find them a lot more convenient, so I guess thats what i'm paying extra for. My macbook pro also never had any virus related problems so thats another big thing.

I guess I don't really understand the point of this topic if you are already deadset on buying it lol.

I asked for opinions on whether it was a good laptop or not, not a war on Windows vs Mac and price comparisons.

    Ivy gave his opinion, lol.

Macs are terribly overpriced, so unless you have the money to waste, i wouldn't buy a mac.

This post pretty much nailed it on the head.

If you really want Mac OS, create a hackintosh.

If by "good laptop" you mean "functional", then yes. Practical, however? Not really.

Also, I'd just like to clarify that I'm not trying to be biased. I gave you my opinion on why I think it's a horribly inefficient solution. If anything, you're the one with the bias lol, considering nothing we've said has had an effect on you. You've had an excuse for everything >_> makes me wonder yet again why this thread even exists.

Once again I asked if it was a good laptop, not if it'd be cheaper to get a Windows that's better and all this. Is it a good laptop? The answer should be yes or no and reasons why.

Are you blind lol? I said it would be a bad idea, and I went onto give my reasoning. You asked for opinions... just because I have a negative one (for good and well outlined reasons) does not mean that you have to take it personally.

You came in with the presumption that the laptop was good... that was your first mistake. Price is a factor, whether you want to admit it or not. It doesn't matter how rich you personally may be, or if you're getting mommy and daddy to buy it... overspending because you like some aluminum case is retarded. Point blank. You're entitled to your opinion just as much as I am though.. if you choose to ignore the advice offered, then so be it, but I am truly at a loss as to why you'd even ask for opinions if you already had your mind made up. There's reviews all over the internet to give you a simple yes and no as to whether or not it's a good computer.

Your whole argument was based on price and how Windows would be more efficient. This isn't what I asked for at all.
