Difference between Runescape 2 and Runescape Classic?

Hi... Sorry about the silly question. I'm brand new to the game, but I noticed here on the forums that it says Runescape 2 and Runescape Classic discussions. Is there a difference? Here's where I signed up for my account:

Is that the only one?

P.S. I have to admit that at first I actually signed up to the game for the sole reason of earning RSGP so I can earn something worth of value to make trades around here. But now that I've got it installed and have been playing it, I'm actually genuinely enjoying it and I think it's become one of my favorite games at moment. I consider it my new addiction :laugh: I'm still a low level starter, but I can't wait to delve further into it. Really just one of those situations where you discover a genuinely pleasant surprise and get so much more out of something than some shallow reason you initially were concerned about.

 

RSC was an earlier version of the Runescape you are now playing. It was 2d I believe I started they year they changed it to RS2. You can't play RSC unless you find an account to buy that has logged into it at one point in time.

You registered to RuneScape 2, a much more popular game simply known as RuneScape.

 

Ah... that explains everything (I wondered why at the bottom it says 1998 - 2011). Thanks guys for helping this "newbie" with sorting out the confusion. Now I just need to figure out the limitations of having a free account and decide whether or not I should upgrade at this time; or just keep playing for a bit to get the hang of things, and then dive fully in.

Really is a great game from what I've seen of it so far Wish I'd known about it a lot sooner. It's actually also my first real experience getting into any MMO (unless you count Phantasy Star Universe on the PS2 briefly, which I'm sure most people don't :laugh: ). Also just got DC Universe Online on Steam for free and have been trying to see what that one is all about.

Edit: What does the term "pure" mean with regards to some of the accounts I see for sale around here? Going to have to take a long look at the Wiki... Seems like there's a lot about this game to learn.

 

A pure is an account that has it stats trained just for one particular thing such as Pking (Player killing). They will have stats like one defence and very high strength and attack so they they are a lower level combat but are actualy stronger then their overall combat level sugests. A main is just an account that has all its skills raised fair evenly and not really made for pking to much.

 

Some limits for your free account that you just created, are clearly your quests and skills are limited. Thee task diary is limited. With p2p you get a lot more monsters to hunt and mini games. Also the member skills and monsters will help you bring in more money. Also f2p accounts created after the bot nuke have a trade limit of plus or minus 25k meaning you can only gain or lose 25k over or under an items worth.

 

Seems very reasonable, nonetheless. It's still going to take me awhile just to get used to everything and even know what I'm doing :laugh: Earlier tonight, I was aimlessly running around trying to find Explorer Jack in Lumbridge just so I could complete my first task. During my wandering, somebody just walked up to me and offered up a few items and coins. Then they asked if I would want to follow them to go kill some rats. Eventually, I lost track of the other player, and ended up being killed by the rats after slaying about 4 or 5 of them with a sling. Then, I had this long dragged out conversation I didn't fully understand with the Grim Reaper about gravestones, before finally respawning.

As you can see, I've got a long way to go before I even understand what's going on half the time :laugh: But, I'll get there eventually

 

Honestly, I think that's been most of our first experiences with the game.

Well, for one thing RS2 is a lot funner/better then RSC. And that's my opinion. The majority of the people today uses RS2 more than RSC. It would be better for you to focuse more on RS2.

 

Thanks I really appreciate your extending the offer. I just may be taking you up on it, as well. I could really use all the help I can get at this stage. If anything just to learn about the world and the ins and outs of the game mechanics and features. I'll be PM'ing you my username when I next have a little free time to play it and anytime you want to sync up, I'm for it.
