The environment which is harder to live in, creates smarter individuals

However, that's entirely dependent on what the person who grows up in that environment chooses to do. I would argue that for the majority of underprivileged children, it's much easier to give up on leading a life of education and prosperity than it is to make the uphill battle against circumstance and break free without being given resources to do so.

Though in general, I do agree with you. I feel that the the human brain often learns better from being taught what not to do. For example, my father was abusive and, all things considered, not a very good dad. Growing up around that and seeing the negative effects it had on my family and especially my mom has made me treat women and people in general with a much higher level of respect and generosity than most people do.

    i disagree entirely

a harder environment does not usually create or foster smarts in a child.

they usually use other methods other than using their mind to get what they want (their fists)

whereas, it has been shown that enriched environments foster more learning, and has effects large enough to overcome those imposed by the biological parents. (ie. their genes)

    ill put it like this

kid a goes to a private school since he was 9 years old because his parents can afford it. they groom him for his future. he knows at a very young age which college he will go to. his parents have enough money to groom him in the most prestigious institutions in order for his acceptance into an ivy league university.

kid b goes to a public school, his parents have trouble making the rents and he sometimes goes without lunch in school and dinner at night. his brain growth is impeded by lack of nutrition. he is aimless, not knowing what to do in order to. he may have a personality disorder from years of emotional/physical abuse that scar him for life and impede social interaction and such. the only way people can pay attention to him is if he acts out.

kid b obviously has it harder, but is much less likely to end up intelligent.

    also,
about 50% of the variance in intelligence is accountable by genetics

the other 50% of variance in intelligence can be chalked up to the environment.

it is not 100% one or the other.

that being said, intelligence tests are incredibly racist as well. they are centered around middle class white folks and there are few different versions to be used in different cultures with different values.

ex of the effects of using a test made for middle class white americans on other cultures:
" these tests may not be valid for these groups, as they may have strong cultural biases that advantage indigenous peoples. Darou (1992) uses the following intelligence-tes item ("saw is to while as snake is to _____") to illustrate the problem with assuming that a question is not culturally biased. Darou assumed that as the item dealt with tools and animals, there would be no cultural bias associated with the item. however, he rapidly found out that indigenous peoples of the Far North had limited experience with snakes and that types of saws they used tended not to make mechanical "whining" sounds. As such, Darou quickly learned that despite his best intentions, this test itemw as biased."

thats not true entirely. this can be true for a very small percentage of people. you can either learn from your environment and choose to be different or become a part of your environment. most people are a product of their environment including parent guidance along with community. if a person was born in a poor community flooded with negative influences then chances are they will end up living like the people that surround them. they can break free from this on their own but that would be extremely hard. The same can go with a person living in a rich and positive environment. it will be very hard to be something negative without any strong influences in that direction.
    OT
that being said, an Asian person born in the hood can be as dumb as he wants if his surroundings are dumb. And an African American person can be as smart as he wants if his surroundings are dumb. to say race determines your relationship is entirely racist and you obviously need to step outside your life to determine the lives of others.

You could use statistics, but it doesn't put the fact that some areas are underdeveloped. Education is expensive.
