Disgusting, absolutely foul, HOW DARE THAT JUDGE EVEN THINK OF SUCH A RIDICULOUS SENTENCE. Being lenient because of their religion?, this is some BULLSHIT, and things like this is going to do is give more fuel for racists and scum to whip up a following and persecute those who have done nothing wrong. Not being used to being drunk is a foul excuse to be allowed to "Not be punished" for the attack on someone, No one else under any ethnicity would get away with such a crime, this is literally how fucked the Justice system is, theres no justice in this.

I believe this is one of those cases where the judge rules by religion so he doesn't look prejudiced. This was awful though, to let them off on this just because 'they're not used to being drunk'. I mean I could murder someone and get away with it for not being used to being drunk. This is despicable.

I 100% disagree with you its people like you that is trying to exaggerate things when you have no background in justice system. I don't think it was lenient because when a judge assess a person they also look into their background and what they do on regular bases. If they feel that it was a mistake that has 99% chance of not happening again they can take that into consideration when making a judgement along with other factors.

 

Not an excuse, how is it prejudiced? if it was a group of white females who attacked a muslim whilst being under influence of alcohol for the first time, they'd be sentenced, what the prejudice is is that they are immediately not responsible for their actions because of 'not being used to alcohol'

 

It's just like affirmative action; companies will hire a non-white over a white of greater capability just so their organization doesn't look prejudice. It is a terrible ruling and obviously needs to be appealed or something.

On topic: This is absolutely pathetic. Especially using religion as a shield to get off clean. The judge obviously didn't want to be deemed a racist, if he were to be looking at it from a religious point of view, them being drunk would have been used against them not as a get outta jail free card (no pun intended).

 

What? This should have nothing to do with religion. They assaulted a woman. They should get appropriate punishment for their actions. This was a hate crime, and neither inexperience with alcohol nor an impeccable rap sheet should exonerate them. They chose to assault a woman based on ethnicity, they should be locked up. Did they break the law? Yes. Should they be prosecuted to the full extent of the law? Yes.

You have no clue about the world and how races work do you? Companies have to be equal opportunity employers, and this gives them a sort of 'racial quota' so that their workforce is not predominantly one race or another. You should think before you post so you don't look like a huge dumbass, which I guess you can't help if you are one.

This ruling obviously has something going on besides what we are presented. They're obvious flaws in it and should be reviewed by a higher court, because it is wrong. They caused damage and should be reprimanded as such.

 

They screwed up and are going to get away with it? I don't care what religion you believe in you still need to serve time for assaulting some one. Just because it's not in their culture to drink, it does not give them a get out of jail free card.

Thanks for posting this. So now their assault is justified because of the boyfriend's actions? He should have used a different approach but they shouldn't get off clean.

 

Brb off to get drunk then beat up an innocent women for no reason, then say it was my first taste of alcohol so I get let off!

 

So that judge basically voided the entire US Constitution.
