Moh, the dev version is available, most plugins work, and countless servers I've been to are running 1.0 now. We could upgrade now.

 

Let me look into this. I'm not home for another 3 and a half hours, but I'll try when I get home. I tried a dev version a while ago and the issue remained "outdated server!" error, but we'll see. I'll try to talk to someone who's exceptional with bukkit servers too and see if they can help.

Nice server - who built it all?

You should make a hardcore survival map. Those are the most fun.
Start at spawn with nothing; you're on your own and if you die you get banned for a week/month.

How do you regulate if someone dies? :O!

I built a lot of the buildings at spawn including the spawntown layout, the industrial office building, MC in a box, empire statebuilding, flag, town center, cathedral, etc and pasted some things in like the bank and the mobspawner.


Will be adding in an XP spawner here soon. easysimple, just a large darkroom for spawning, a water elevator up 23 layers, an 8-box water conveyor, and a 23 layer drop. This will put all the mobs down to half a heart, and you just have to sit at the spot where they drop and hit them with anything and they'll die instantly and give you XP. Very legit contraption

 

Moving into a new home I havent been on in awhile, missing the server. Probably skyscrapers lining my little cabin in center city.

HCSMP is where I got the idea (they have a subreddit). The week or so that I managed to survive was by far the most fun I've ever had on Minecraft. Even though I was playing all by myself.

 

Just the fact that you can be killed and then banned would make it much more enjoyable being a hermit in a lone mine. The possibility of being ambushed maybe slim but adds to enjoyment.

Cant wait to get back home and get on the server once again been a week or so.

 

Yea. It's all like, "ooh, is all my shit still there? Will I have to start again? Will I find some other noob's base to loot? etc..".

Problem is you need a decent playerbase to make it work. If everyone is banned for a week after they die the number of players is quickly going to dwindle, lol.

HCSMP does well because they get quite a bit of traffic due to the subreddit they have running (I'd link but Reddit is down atm).
