Hey guys! Recently a friend of my from the band Risk This City and I did a cover of "Hey John, What's Your Name Again?" from The Devil Wears Prada. You guys should check it out and give me some feedback! in all honesty, i had to stop the vid at the 0:40 second mark, and delete that from my youtube history. Screamo is not for you guys sorry =\ but atleast you tried.

 

Well thanks for your opinion, but you didn't even give the video a chance.

At the :40 second mark, I literally said 3 1/2 words out of the whole song, and you didn't even get to hear my friend's parts, so you should say screamo isn't for me not "for you guys".

I also said this is the first time I've screamed in months, but yeah I know it wasn't that good. Thanks for the feedback. Would you be able to listen to the rest of it, and maybe give me some tips? Everyone sucks starting out, it takes practice to get better. I do think the video gets better after I say more than just 4 words, but that's just me.

But yeah, any advice or anything, besides "screamo isn't for you"?

 

Whoa... I am with Delta on this one. As an avid listener of all variations of metal this just made me sad. The vocals of the first guy absolutely has no substance and they're just kind of lackluster and the second kid's highs just aren't there. Needs more practice and probably should consider doing some vocal exercises.

 

can you give me a X:XX time where its normal singing? because quite frankly i couldn't listen to that screaming. it was that dreadful.

 

Omg Delta can you actually listen to what I'm saying? I've already noted that I'm a beginner, and even so this was my first night screaming in over 3 months. It was my first cover EVER. I understand that I'm not going to be a pro or anything overnight, can you give me any actual advice, or are you just going to keep making fun of the video? I get it. You didn't like it. I need practice. Any advice?

Thank you for your opinion also! I know I need more practice and some vocal exercises would help. Do you know any off hand? I'm not a vocalist or ever had any training or anything like that lol. I tried looking for a vocal trainer or w/e around my area, but even in Philly I can't find a vocal coach for screaming :/

 

It's difficult to really learn, it is just one of those things you have or you don't sometimes.

Just learn traditional singing techniques and start building up your lung capacity then start training with singing techniques that build diaphragm (The big muscle under your lungs) control and go from there.
