So I suggest that everyone gets their email "hacked" so that we can "fake" scam people just so they make up a "false" reports and they will get "banned".

This is correct right? This will rid every possible scammer from Sythe?

This whole thing was carefully thought out by n4n0 and I and we kept track of all the people who tried to scam him. Of course this won't be happening again because people will recognize it from now on...

 

Although I don't completely agree with the method of this, at the end of the day it removes people who can't be trusted and who shouldn't be on Sythe at all anyway. Kudos to you two.

The dubious ethicacy or legality of this aside, I really don't think this hoax was worth it. Out of the 96 bans of the last three days, 24 resulted from this action. In return, significant dissent was created - leading to some users distrusting the administration. Considering that this sort of action easily has the potential to backfire and create a torrential scandal, it seems perhaps overly risky to engage in something that promises very limited gain and the chance of far greater damage.

 

Making themselves look good justifies a perm ban?

 

I don't really understand what you're saying. "Lots of members here scam, what's your point"? Shall we just sit by and watch our community be fucked? No. That's why they have these little heists. That's why they do this shit, not for the laughs. You should be fucking grateful because I bet if you were scammed, you'd be raging about the exact opposite thing.

I didn't know what entrapment actually meant at the time. I thought that was a synonym for "sting".

 

This "Sting" only made a minor dent in the many scammers that are on sythe, and this just opened up new ideas for scammers to pull off. Dissapointed with the staff on this one.

For some reason people seem to believe claiming to be scammed and collect charity will be a trend.

Only comment on the operation is for future purposes, make a thread in the Staff Lounge informing the rest.

 

Or at least alert the site owner! :O!

So basically, 50 people are banned, and then about 30 of them will ban evade when they need something from Sythe? Honestly, it's not like scammers can be removed from Sythe, it's pretty much a trademark of Sythe. At the end of the day, this hoax only served to further scare users of the possibilities of trusted sellers being hacked. And also, it's not like people naturally want to scam. As they get more vouches and trusted, the desire to NOT scam becomes stronger. But, if you're new to a community and theres 1B up for grabs and you don't really care about the community, who wouldn't want to try to get it? This hoax, essentially, corrupted many new users and let their greed take over. I mean honestly, I bet 80% of the community has thought about scamming someone else if the other trader went first. There is almost no way Sythe will ever be a honest trading community. I believe that a better way of solving this is giving more clear warnings to new users about the high density of scammers at Sythe and giving them a run-down of what safe trading is. Just my $0.02 at 2am.

 

Even if 30 of them do ban evade, they still will have to work up their trust/rep to be where they were well at least for some. This will make it harder for them and they may choose not to scam anymore due to the effort they have had to put in. There's no way really you can 100% remove scamming from any trading site so of course where there is money to be scammed then there will be scammers. As for alerting newcomers of the so called high density of scammers on Sythe I'm sure that will turn out great and there will be so many more members everyday(sarcasm). What would you do if you joined a forum and when you signed up you were told "This site has a high amount of scammers and we recommend you read this guide before you do any trading or else you most likely will be scammed", no that won't work.
