I seriously wasn't expecting Time To Buy, $100 donator...

 

Not impressed with this at all. Quite immature. Total abuse of power. Yes everyone knows many people on Sythe will scam if given the opportunity. So you banned some people who faked a scam, congratulations. Is this the kind of thing the Sythe staff spends their time dreaming up these days? Honestly this is a pitiful, self-centered act. The troll of all trolls. Props.

However, what really gets me off is that this kind of activity does not benefit the site in any way AT ALL. Isn't that what the staff is supposed to be doing? Helping out the site? You got rid of a host of inconsequential members. Ok.

I'm extremely upset and annoyed. Everyone knows there are a lot of people on sythe who are dishonest. So what? All this activity does is alienates people from sythe.org as a whole.

Grow up.

Erm, you do realize that the whole point of this was to root out dishonest traders before they had a chance to scam? The community should be thankful that we did this.

And the staff in general had no idea this was going on. Its a sting and has been done before for various other issues. If your not dishonest, you wouldn't be banned.

 

I've got to agree with Viou here. What does this really accomplish at the end of the day? The main thing I can think of is creating distrust for our staff. Forum staff should be here to help people, not deliberately set them up. Are we trying to say that Sythe is a safer place now? I surely don't think so.

The staff obviously didnt do this for shits and giggles, do you think we enjoy catching people who have seemed to be trustworthy and maybe even possible mod candidates of the future as dishonest money grabbing scammers? Ofcourse not.

You of all people should not be that upset over a GP lottery. I wasn't upset, and im sure winning 690m would have meant a whole lot more to me, then a successful gold merchant.

 

More dishonest traders will arise. Making such a scene over banning 15 users is nonsensical when at least 50 users are banned daily for ban evasion/scamming.

Silly and immature and promotes an image of Sythe.org that I do not agree with.

Now really, do you recognize any of those names on that list other than Time To Buy? I don't. I can't comment on him in specifics but he doesn't even use the market to the point where banning him was such a feat of public safety.

Innovative works if you get results. This didn't.

The kid who scammed the green then went on to say that n4n0 and govind are lying about this, and claims to have a 200B bank. That was some light in all of this.

Go figure and I'm glad you weren't really hacked n4n0, I woulda given at least $200 (if this was legit).

As to whether or not this was warranted, I would have to say that Time To Buy at least probably would never have scammed (he's someone I see a fair bit), and this may have been an unfair way of banning him, he really didn't make more then a post saying he was scammed but didnt expect a return. I expect he'l try and pardon.

I dont know, seems like an unfair sting operation, especially since (other then Time to buy) all the users were just newcomers/unknown to me, they will be back if they want to >.>.

Majority of what I see being banned is just ban evaders who made accounts to pretend they got scammed... Not really a big deal just one person (Time to buy) comes up as a surprise. What Viou said was basically spot on to what majority of sythe members will be thinking but most won't admit it.

Entrapment isn't a good method of showing bad intentions

 

As someone who can see the actual amount of users banned every day (and for which reasons), I'll state right now that arguing with you is not worth my time; this haul here is actually quite a lot.

 

Getting rid of any amount of dishonest trader is always a result.

 

This form of entrapment managed to snare a group of IRRELEVANT users. Like punjabi said, entrapment isn't a good way to show bad intentions. I can't even believe you take such pride in such an elaborate, childish scheme.
