$385 is not a lot to you in the grand scheme of things. But if you do not pay it off your credit score will be absolutely trashed and you will be blacklisted from pretty much all lending organizations. It would be pretty stupid to not pay it back.

 

Once again the actual story which is true is that the account is a mule paypal, the name registered on it is false, address is false, no credit card added onto it, false phone number the ONLY legit thing is under addresses it has my real first and last name as a "gift address" but even then the name there is the only legit thing below it has another fake address attached to it so they have no way of knowing that name is real.

How would they go about ruining my credit?

I personally wouldn't take the risk for the matter of fact that credit scores take years upon years to build up and acquiring loans from lending organizations is crucial to all aspects of grown-up life.

$385 really isn't a lot, the risk far outweighs the reward.

 

If i had any legitimate details on there to risk my credit rating then i would pay but since EVERYTHING is false why would i pocket $385 for no reason when its not my fault its in negative?

 

If you don't live in the US, don't pay it back. They'll threaten, but they won't do shit.

Credit score: unaffected. And anything relating to IP address, don't worry about.

 

It may not, like I said in my original post it all depends on whether they actually CAN find you, or not. But then again who knows. A multi-million dollar agency like PayPal is sure to have the resources to run some kind of scan on your IP address and real name and if they really wanted to. I would ASSUME that they would not go to these lengths (it is a bit ridiculous to be honest), but some of the stories posted here by people who have been through similar situations with PayPal makes me wonder slightly.

Lol, I think the guy you quoted who said "I had no choice but to pay", was a bit of a pussy. You are correct when you say your debt will be passed on to a collections agency and they will only hassle you with phone calls and mail. Once again, this is IF they can even find you.

I wish I had not edited my original post. I did so because I felt that alot of the response I had written could come across like I was just rambling on about my own personal experiences with debt and had hardly any relevance to your question. But the fact is that for a 20 year old kid, I am deeply in debt thanks to stupid decisions I made while being seriously addicted to drugs. Many of these decisions were made without me thinking at all as I was not in my right mind, and many were made without even considering just how much damage I was doing to my credit and my reputation. I can't even open a PayPal account, or a bank account for that matter, because of my actions in the past. Or atleast until I pay off my debts.

I understand this has very little to do with your own situation as its just a measly $385, I just want to tell you how much I regret many of the things I did in the past and much of the crimes I committed. I am harrassed almost daily by telephone calls, letters in the mail, e-mails, and even collections agents going as far to POST ON MY FACEBOOK AND SEND ME MESSAGES.

My point is - be smart here dude. Although you will not be subpoenaed to court over a debt so small, it could still very much affect your credit score IF, I repeat, IF PayPal were able to somehow locate you. I wouldn't risk it if I were in your situation. I might stall it for awhile, but eventually down the road when you have the money I would highly suggest paying it off. Or pay it off even a small amount at a time (weekly, biweekly, monthly, etc). It sucks ass, but it is a decision that would be a very mature and adult decision and could potentially save you a giant headache in the future.

 

i have a paypal acc cuz of a fag scammer with 175$ debt i called paypal he said only thing posisble is to pay it back or get them to cancel i wa slike yeah right and i said only thing he said so i said let me speak to a manager then i told them " Fuck you im not paying you guys shit cuz im loosing x2 my profits form scammer then you so fuck you have a nice day" hung up changed my paypal info and shit sititng there for about 7 months

 

PayPal can do absolutely nothing about it. They can not prove anything therefore they have no case. This is also why it can not affect your credit.

 

Essentially scamming paypal because you are too stupid to sell safely is a highly immoral and foolish thing to do, especially on such a small amount as $385. Look in the mirror and ask yourself if you want to be that guy.

 

These guys that are posting in this thread saying its better to pay the money back are stupid. I've had a guy sell me an account for $130 then he chargeback the money and it's been negative for a while and nothing has happend since I didn't use my real Andress , phone either but I had my real name.

It's been lying there for a while and nothing has happend. Trust me mate , these kids are just trying to scare you to pay it back. Nothing will happen to you and I've dealt with these types of things in the past.

 

You cannot report on someone's credit by name alone... IP addresses mean absolutely nothing in this case.

Again, no one they could report on his credit when they can't even confirm his identity.

Scamming a billion dollar company that essentially does that to customers every day... yeah, I would be that guy every time.

Do you honestly know how shady some of PayPal's policies and tactics are? Because if you did I guarantee you wouldn't feel bad about leaving an account with a negative balance. PayPal has been involved in numerous lawsuits and has lost many due to some of the things they do and try to tell customers are illegal.

 

So im the scammer here? when i was chargebacked, fuck that i gave the buyer what he wanted im not getting jipped out of this for no reason.

I have an account with around -2000 dollars on it (Got majorly scammed when selling some GP). They've put it to collections, and all they did was call a few times. It's been months since then, and almost a year since the initial negative balance on the account. At most, they can ruin your credit, assuming they can find you...

Just got that email lol, the ONLY worry i have is that under "addresses" it has like 5 addresses for some reason and ONE of them has my real name but a FAKE address and fake number under it, could they pin me for bad credit under that name? they have no proof that the real one is ACTUALLY the real name for all they know i could have used some randoms name under it, the other 4 are all completely false.

 

you stated you sent it to your bank account? was your bank account linked to this PP account? if so it wouldn't be hard to trace that.
