Negative Paypal Balance.

Recently sold 700m on sythe for $385. the buyer did a chargeback and won but luckily knowing that it may happen i deposited it into my bank account and removed my CC from the paypal, the paypal has my REAL name but false address and phone number.

I am negative $-385, should i leave it and fuck them off since they cant call me due to fake number or should i pay it back incase they charge legal action against me?..

 

It would be wise to try and pay them back, or dispute it if you can with proof that the person did indeed recieve their virtual goods and charged you back AKA scammed you. Not sure if they would care or not.

But just from personal experience, I would have to say its very unlikely that they would pursue legal action against you, assuming they were even able to find you to begin with. I have debts far worse than yours, and I still have not been dragged to court over them (yet lol),

So, it is very unlikely it is that the matter will land in court. The downside is that you will not be able to make another PayPal account under your real name, and it will most likely affect your credit score at some point.

 

Out of personal experience, I would not recommend leaving the account negative balance, PayPal will pursue it at all costs, I had this issue once and ended up having bailiffs at my door threatening to take me to court until they received their money, plus bailiff fees.

Paypal are serious about these kinds of doings, it loses them money and they do not tolerate it.

 

How will it affect my credit score? they dont have proof that the name i placed is in fact my real name?

 

Don't just leave it as it is now, they can easily look up your ip son they WILL find you and take legal actions against you. Try to pay it back or contact them and try to get your money back (if you have some proof)

They will, i had a -30usd balance on a unverified paypal account (i'm from belgium) and they sent me letters. I had to pay it there was nothing else i could do.

 

LOL so u gave in because they sent u a letter, i just did some google searches, they sell the debt to debt collectors and they just hassle u with calls and mail, both my Address and Numbers are fake, i think im in the clear.

 

Do whatever you want they'll find you. 385usd is a lot.

As to the op, paying it back would obviously be the best and safest route, however, seeing as you don't want to do that, you're most likely fine.

PayPal will attempt to contact you within the first 6 months to get you to pay it back. After that, they will pass the debt on to a debt collection agency who will then proceed to try and track you down as well.

If they have nothing but your name, there's no way they will find you. Neither PayPal nor a debt collection agency is going to actually go through IPs and ISPs to locate someone. That would be assuming they would even have the leverage and power to do so in the first place.

People have different responses to these matters, don't get too confident, they have more than one way of finding your address.. Just remember you gave them your bank details.

Without any of that, no you would be clear, you still may be depending on which member of staff dealt with your removal request (for removing CC etc.)

If it was a good employee, they would have removed it and destroyed that information as that is stated in the data protection act 1998. Information should be destroyed on request.

You may still be able to ring them and request that your details are destroyed if they still have them

They cannot refuse this, as it breaches that Act.

Thats good because i just made up the putting it into my bank account and removing details to see the WORST case scenario, the money has been placed from this mule account to a friends paypal who has/will pay me cash irl.

 

PayPal does not do small claims court. They can not take you to collections based on a name unless you entered your ssn. They cant charge your credit card or bank without authorization. Your account will be left negative until they close it. I have used Paypal for a long long long time. I have had accounts brought negative for the same reasons. My first one even had my ssn on it and was brought a few thousand negative from Ebay scammers.

There is no legal action to be taken except small claims court. If you know about small claims court then you would know that legal fees would be through the roof. Paypal doesnt have some 1-800-lawyer. They have high dollar lawyers that it would cost a very large amount of money to even go to some 30 minute small claims court case. Even if they were to win in small claims court you would have to pay the negative and filing fees but even then you would have to be over 18 or they could get in trouble and even after that nothing really happens if you don't pay except they could pay more money to get your pay check garnished which is more trouble than its worth.

The only thing that happens when you go negative is you are forced to make a new account assuming a new identity. New bank new cc new name new address and so on. They may call you but a f**k you and hangup would settle that or tell them the person no longer lives there or has passed away.

You will not be served with summons or anything and you can not get into legal troubles unless you stole someone elses account.

 

As you can see he is not in the US, Social security numbers mean nothing out in other countries.

What doesn't affect you may affect someone else..

I have over -500USD on paypal accounts, because lots of people charged me back long time ago, and nothing happened.
However everytime I try to sell gp via paypal as soon as I receive money they limit my accounts xDD So yeah. I have around 500usd debt in accounts, and around 750usd on limited accounts. Fuck paypal.


tl,dr Don't pay shit to them.
