Do any of you feel the same way? I've just returned from a long hiatus and it seems like there way less people.

The lack of people you have noticed, could be that Jagex recently launched a bot nuke campaign and subsequently lost over 2/3rds of their player base.

    Runescape popularity on the decline?

The thing is though, even during Runescape's "peak" before botting took over, we never really knew how many of the constant 100K+ players were actually bots.

2/3's of the population was made up of bots.

Pre-Nuke players online: Something like 160,000.
    Post Nuke players online: 50,000.

    Runescape popularity on the decline?

I've seen a rise, when there was botting, there were 100K people online the majority of the time, after botting there was like 45K people online and now there is 60K+ so i think it's increasing in popularity.

I wouldn't say its decreasing.... The boys are gone so not as many players. I still think its popularity is about the same if not more.

    Lol...

On topic though, I feel as though Runescape's popularity will increase. I see them going in the right direction to increase their legit player base.

    Runescape popularity on the decline?

The population is in a decline but it doesn't really matter since they were all bots. So the real population of runescape was around 50k the whole time.

For my timezone, its constantly around 70k-80k people online during the evening hours. Weekends have over 90k.

    Runescape popularity on the decline?

That happened when Jagex updated the GE. Trade worlds kind of went down the hole.

On topic: I don't really see the popularity declining...If anything, the nuke will draw back people that couldn't be bothered to compete with bots before.

I'd say its slowly increasing since the bot nuke. It's a way better game without the bots.

It was actually more like a drop from 210,000 to 60,000 the day of the update. Update days are always the best for gauging population since it breaks almost every bot for at least a few hours.
