All the accounts being wiped/cleaned

I know I'm new to the community, but just a simple question.

Why aren't people's accounts being banned for this, instead of just the wealth being removed?

Call me crazy, but I've started to come to the conclusion there is someone lurking these forums finding out the names of accounts and hacking them in some way. I know it seems impossible because the IP addresses are claimed to be their own, but with the way Jagex has been acting recently towards bots/RWT, it seems like they'd just ban the accounts instead of taking wealth off of them.

They just took out nearly 100,000 daily players from the game with removing bots, so we can't really doubt that they won't take cuts in pay anymore.

 

There isn't a hacker hitting all the major gold sellers. You will leave an IP as evidence no matter what - if you are using a proxy or not. If they were attacking the runescape accounts why wouldn't they attack the MSNs and go make trades under their name? Jagex bans and rolls back all the time, and now that they have realized that Runescape is going down they are trying to get all the money out of it they can.

 

It's pretty obvious that either Jagex has been;

A) Watching these big gold sellers for a while and have a good amount of evidence in order to ban them.

B) Have been browsing the forums, buying gold and banning the people when trading with them.

 

From what I've heard there have been some legal issues with banning accounts without any form of proof - however they're allowed to remove whatever they want at their own discretion.

They can do whatever the heck they want to their accounts for any reason -- including permanently ban it for no reason whatsoever.

 

They do this so they can still make money off of them via membership.

They ban f2p goldfarms, clean p2p ones.

 

Jagex owns everything revolving around Runescape, there's no way anybody could file a lawsuit or take legal action against Jagex involving the unjust banning of their account

 

You do not own "you're" runescape account, Jagex owns everything to do with the game they with hold the right to do whatever the fuck they want excuse my french to their property at any given time for any given reason, doesn't have to be justified in any way or any reason it is their property and legaly there is nothing you can do about it unless you somehow skipped the TOU/TOS agreences (<--no spellcheck).

 

If jagex wanted to they could go on your account and swap all your party hats for a cabbage I guess... But then again if you pay for membership you should have more rights lol

 

Give you a second chance? but most importantly keeping the memberships rolling in

You don't own the account, but you own the effort you put into it.

Legal issues with banning for no reason.

 

I guess you COULD make the argument that Jagex doesn't do it based on moral reasons.
They don't want to feel like they're just screwing people over.
