PP=PayPal problems? Guide to selling via PP safely. Hoping to get this stickied!

PP = PayPal Problems? Fret not. A guide to selling RSGP safely using PayPal.

    Introduction
I would like to give everyone an extensive guide as to how to sell RSGP through PayPal safely, as well as dealing with disputes. I have always preferred PayPal over the other payment methods as it is time efficient as well as to utilize its low fees. I run a PP gold shop and hence have gained vast experience in dealing with such matters. I feel sorry for the many people who have been scammed in 1 way or another using PayPal. I do not guarantee that you will win every dispute, but in my past experiences, I believe that my method will give you a 95% chance of winning all disputes. This guide will help you eliminate ALL 4 different kinds of disputes.

    1. Non-receipt claims
    2. Not as described claims
    3. Unauthorized claims
    4. Unauthorized claims (debit/credit card related)

Firstly, the basic rules of trading should apply:
    • When someone requests to buy gold off you, the one thing that I find useful is to check on his or her previous posts. Most of the time, it will give you a good idea on the real intentions of the person. For example, if you see that the person has a thread stating “Buying all RSGP 0.6/m via PayPal”, I would tend to avoid that person. No one in his or her right mind would buy ALL RSGP at that price. Recent example include chic_raw who bought extensive amounts via PP at 0.6/m. A ban was imminent and true enough, it came through. I can lists other people just by looking at the thread now, who are active members or even forum addicts with great vouches that are obviously scammers waiting for the perfect moment to chargeback. Also, I would tend to look at their joining date. If they only just signed up for Sythe and have bought extensive amounts of RSGP at a high price via PayPal, chances are, they are waiting for a month or so before charging back.
    • Check to see if their vouches are indeed legitimate. I always look out for vouches by trusted users.
    • As a basic rule, unless you are a person who wants to take risks, do not trade with a newcomer using a reversible form of payment, such as PayPal. Also, anyone who is eager to go first to buy at a high price is normally preparing to chargeback.
    • Just by talking to them on MSN or Skype, you should be able to get a good idea as to whether they are legit buyers or your RSGP.

The 3 keys to trading PayPal safely
    1. Make the buyer pay from his balance and not via his bank balance or his debit or credit card.
Why is this so? Firstly, making him or her pay from his balance would eliminate the most disastrous situation of the buyer approaching his debit or credit card company to reverse the payment. If the buyer manages to do so, you will most probably lose the dispute. Hence, paying by balance eliminates any risks of this. In order to make sure that one is actually paying from his or her balance, make sure the buyer sends you a screenshot showing the balance. What I like to do is to ask for a screenshot before the trade to make sure the balance is there and after the trade (together with the first few lines of the transaction table) to make sure the payment has indeed came out of the buyer’s balance and to make sure that the buyer has not transferred the funds to his bank and subsequently paid from his or her debit or credit card.
    2. Make the buyer send you an e-mail from HIS/HER “PAYPAL” E-MAIL to YOUR “PAYPAL” E-MAIL.
Why is this so? This is because doing so will eliminate the second-most disastrous situation where the person files an unauthorized claim that is not related to the debit or credit card issuer. From my experience with PayPal, as long as you have access to the e-mail that is linked to the PayPal, PayPal will automatically deem you the original owner of the account regardless of the slight possibility that someone may have hacked both your PayPal and your e-mail that related to the PayPal account. I know this because a PayPal staff has told me this personally over the phone. Hence, if the buyer claims that he or she has been hacked, if you show the screenshot of the e-mail with a statement stating that the buyer is going to authorized a payment of sum X to you for the purchase of virtual goods, PayPal will immediately assume that he or she is the original owner period. In addition to this, you are also able to trace the IP of the e-mail sender just by extracting the IP from the e-mail header. To add to this, if someone is paying by his/her balance and at the same time is able to send you an e-mail from his/her PP address, chances are they are the real owner anyways. Hence, PayPal will be able to tell through their own fraud investigation that the other party's account was not hacked! PayPal ain't stupid! They are only helpless when someone files a chargeback from his/her credit card supplier.
    3. Always make the sender send the money as payment for a good with the note stating that he or she is purchasing virtual items/currency.
This eliminates all risk of any disputes to do with non-receipt or ‘not as described’ claims. As soon as the staff at PayPal sees the note, the case is automatically voided and the case closed immediately period. I would like to give users a basic template of what you should write to PayPal:
“Hi, I met the buyer on a site, namely Sythe. He agreed to purchase ‘X’ amount of ‘Y’ item from me. The transaction went through I gave him ‘X’ item and now, he has opened a non-receipt claim. This is totally outrageous as I have already handed him the gold. We were clearly dealing with a intangible and virtual item
Furthermore, after having read the buyer protection policy over and over and over again, it states clearly that intangible and virtual items or services are CLEARLY not covered by the buyer protection policy. This case should in no circumstance be decided in favour of the buyer.

The way to go about settling claims
First step: Escalate all claims immediately. Do not even bother communicating with the other party. It is useless, trust me.
Second step: Fill in everything and submit all evidence such as screenshots as files.
Third step: This is the most important step. CALL PayPal

    Calling PayPal
Always call PayPal immediately after you have completed step 2 or else they will take their own sweet time and your frustration will build up daily. I have learnt that all PayPal staff have to be very nice and polite regardless of how badly you treat them. Hence, I always take advantage of this and tend to be very firm with them to the point that they get scared of me. Don’t be afraid to scold them, yell at them or raise your voice till your neighbours hear it as they still have to be nice and polite to you.
Immediately tell them that a claim has been filed against you and that you want the review team to look at it right this moment. If they give you an excuse like, “sorry we have to go through the proper process”, tell them you hate their system and demand that you speak to a specialist immediately and your case decided within 24 hours. If they still deny you, hang up and call again! It always works!
If it is a non-receipt or ‘not as described’ claim, immediately tell them of the note and that the payment was for virtual items. Say, “The other party is a liar. The transaction was for virtual and intangible goods and hence IT IS CLEARLY NOT PROTECTED BY THE BUYER PROTECTION POLICY. I expect that because this is the case, your team will look at it straight away, and close the case in my favour within the next 24 hours!” Keep demanding so and they will give in trust me. Before you hang up always get their guarantee that it will be decided in your favour when it is looked at.
If it is an unauthorized claim, tell them you have uploaded the picture of the sent e-mail and tell them that it is not possible that both the PayPal and e-mail can be hacked at the same time and it was clearly the original owner. Tell them to review immediately because the other party is a liar and tell them to decide in your favour. Be firm with them.

    A note to all buyers
Obviously, we don’t want to have a case where sellers are using the above method and not being legitimate by handing over the gold. Hence, I always recommend using a middleman if you are unsure. Also, more vouches does not mean more trusted. Buyers, if you are interested, you can PM and I will give you a list of every active member and forum addict that are scammers that have been let off the hook. It is so easy to tell.
Discernment is the key when buying. Use a MM/OMM or buy from a trusted seller.

PLEASE SUPPORT IF YOU LIKE IT!!! IF THIS IS THE WRONG PLACE TO POST THIS, I'M SORRY AND WOULD DELETE AND RE-POST IN ANOTHER FORUM!

This guide is nice for reducing chargebacks, but it will never eliminate them. Good guide, anyway. Support.

Fantastic guide and an interesting read -- and I rarely sell virtual goods [sic]. I would definitely pitch for a sticky.

If you get keylogged or ratted and the hacker gained access to your paypal account then they have access to your email as well

Nothing against your guide I'm just saying thats a dumb policy from paypal for the people who really do get hacked
