How has runescape damaged your life?

Runescape is the reason that all of my fucking assignments were never handed in. I'm fucked when i open that report card. Not to mention that it's caused me heaps of stress and depression.......

 

I didn't get laid until I was 16

 

i'm more addicted to rs and sythe and other forums i don't get bullied for it but they don't like it that i've play it and says its a waste of ur time, ur wasting ur life and stuff.

 

Not much, never got addicted, hoping to make some real cash now =]

 

hahaha all off these answers are so so so true. when i was young i just eat and played rs, causing me to pile on the pounds and therefore get bullied.

 

Financially. I've wasted hundreds of dollars buying gold and such.

 

I skipped like 90 days of school throughout high school for runescape/video games

 

It made me learn java, now I'm one of the best Java programmers in my class at school, I've since expanded to C++ and looked through a little VB.net
I was never really addicted to it, I can't even play it for more than a few minutes now but every once in a while I'll go through a Runescape phase were all I do is play Runescape 24/7, but that only lasts like a week then I can't even stand the sight of it, I don't really have fun playing ANY video games unless I made it myself

Not doing homework or studying for tests

 

runescape is good, stops me doing drugs, wasting time ect doing things that are quite wrong its been good in my opinion.

 

It made me slack of in my studies lol

 

stole my parents credit cards for a while
missed 32 assignments in 5th grade

but i quit now.. so its all good.

 

Same, stole $200. No value for money. Still hard to gain their trust today.

 

Ruined my parents trust with me.
Ever since I started playing rs again (quit until summer 2010)
my parents turn off the internet every night at 9:00

Ruined my eyesight from so many hours in front of a computer.
Made me have much less friends then I should.
Gave me horrible social skills. I used to be one of the most popular kids in school in 6th-8th grade, then came highschool and It's not nearly the same.

Wasted a lot of money buying bots/membership.

So much more, I'm very grateful that I can now play MW3.

 

Made me fail last year of high school and drop out.
Been hell trying to pick up studying again, ever since.
Finishing it this year though, 3 years late. Better later than never.

 

Interesting thread. Now to share my story.

I've been playing this game on and off for the past ten years. This game impacted me negatively during middle school and the first two years of high school. I spent too many hours playing, as a result my social life was very minimal.

Most of my time was used to make money via "flipping" and merchanting. When the grand exchange first came out my brother and I didn't really take advantage of it. However, we soon started to buy and sell items on the GE and found out relatively quickly that there was a "4-hour" rule, limits on buying, and the concept of "sniping." This got me hooked on "flipping." The skills I have gained from interacting with such a dynamic and volatile market place has actually helped with my studies in Business.

Runescape also got me into programming, I added a third major, Computer Science, halfway through my time at college and am loving it. Java and C++ are my life now.

This summer I wrote my own private script and ran it for 3 months before bots were nuked. Made some money. It was a lot of work but a very rewarding experience.

In the future I hope to write algorithms to trade stock or start my own online business.

 

It's had no affect on my life. When I did play it , i made sure i didn't overplay.I kept up to date with all of my work before playing.And i chose hanging out with friends and family over it.

Tbh, too much time consumed, when i could of done better things tbh, school grades were much lower aswell although i started in playing rs when i was 11 ( year 6) and yeah. Fought with my sister alot fighting over the computer as we had 1 each back then, but apart from that, yeah. In the past year, haven't played more than i'd say 50 hours tbh.
