There's a difference. Soundtrack would be the compilation of various artists used throughout the film. Original Score is composed specifically and (usually) exclusively for the film. Post the film with your favorite soundtrack, and the film with your favorite score- accompanied by track(s) to give us an idea of what you're referring to.

Favorite Soundtrack (thus far) : Drive

Nicolas Winding Refn is renown for his use of tasteful electronic music throughout the films he makes. Drive is pretty much an urban-hero noir crossover, so extended shots of the Los Angeles cityscape accompanied by blisteringly infectious electronic beats is a fucking win in my books.

Favorite Original Score (thus far) : The Village

    M. Night Shyamalan's best film hands down- which isn't saying much to be honest because most of his work is horrendous. James Newton Howard composed the score, along with most of Shyamalan's work. Beautiful violin arrangement for a beautifully misunderstood film.

The score for the LOTR trilogy was an astounding achievement, and really solidified the caliber of the films as a whole.

You just reiterated what was already said almost word for word. Why don't you contribute more thoroughly, suggesting a film that hasn't already been mentioned.

Soundtrack/Original score would be Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross with The Social Network.

Trent Reznor has lead an impressive career since the disbanding of NIN. He also did the music for Tetsuo: The Bullet Man - great industrial that i felt should have been the kind of sound NIN would've been better off aiming for to begin with.

I don't believe he gave up on NIN, because there technically is no band. The only original member that has come and gone is the drummer Josh Freese. It's pretty much considered Trent's personal project. I could see how that could come across since he dropped his label, and started making his music available for free download on the NIN website. There was even an instance that he put numerous tracks of silence on the Broken EP.

Anyway he duped his label into thinking there was only 7 songs, when there was actually 97 or so. He's had a lot of battles with the record labels and such. Don't think I've heard any of the music on Tetsuo, see if I can find any.

Has to be OST for Inception. Time is one of the best bits of music I've ever heard.

Soundtrack? One of my favourites is the Kill Bill soundtrack.
