    Marijuana - the real effects?

hey guys so I smoke weed.. I started this summer and starting in september i've been having around 2-3 joints every weekend, some weeks i don't smoke it. However, i still get a's and b's. My best friend also smokes a shitload of weed and he gets high honors. So I have a question, what effects do weed have on a 14 year old? I'm 6 foot tall and the doctor told me my body is really developed for a 14 yr old. Idk if this makes a difference but I just wanna make sure. please provide sources for ur info

I'd put it off until your an adult, not because you can't make decisions for yourself, but because I think the risk of neurological impairment at a later stage outweighs any benefit of marijuana for adolescents. It should be noted that causation hasn't been 'proven' but even still, a strong correlation should be enough to abstain as the implications could be devastating should the correlation foreshadow proven causation at a later date.

    Marijuana - the real effects?

    lets see here:

the only negative impact of marijuana i could see, is that you'll become a habitual user, as in you'll get in a pattern of using. however, this isn't necessarily a bad thing, marijuana is much safer than: crack, heroin, meth, prescription medications, McDonalds (fast food), hospitals (staff infections..), cliff diving, driving, and pretty much anything the media tells you to consume...

plus, coffee, cigarettes, fast food, soda, sodium, and even candy, is WAY MORE ADDICTIVE than marijuana, and lacking those will cause more damage to the body than marijuana will...

and withdraws for marijuana, don't occur until about 1 month after your last consumption, even then they are extremely minor, the withdrawals are actually so minor that you may not even notice them... consequently, you may notice lack of sleep, or restlessness, marijuana is commonly associated with restless leg syndrome (RLS).

so here is a list of the worst problems with marijuana and the solutions.

GOING TO JAIL - this will kinda fuck a lot of shit up, best thing to do is, if your a smoker, BE A SMOKER, don't get caught up in other peoples bullshit, and STAY THE FUCK OUT OF THE TRAP SCENE (if you don't know what the trap is, good, don't learn about it)

Becoming a worthless drain on society - ok so marijuana can make you sleepy, happy, and hungry right?, but if you can't keep your job, schooling, or relationships, maybe marijuana isn't for you. And you should wake the fuck up.

really though, just be responsible & reasonable about it, and be informed about your local environment (ie. job/school requirements or testing).

and dont let the high come from the weed, let it come from the life (or whats behind the weed)

ps: the whole nuerological impairment is a bunch of shit, marijuana is plant, not a drug. however, its kinda like KFC, if you keep eating it, you'll get fuckin fat, so moderation is always key, and not for just pot, but for everything

the quote below is crapeeeeeeey!! CORRELATION DOES NOT EQUAL CAUSATION, this basic concept is a HUGE DEAL in the world of Psychology.

You can cite a spurious correlation if you will, I already conceded that as a limitation. Sorry, but I'd prefer to steer clear of things that may have the potential to cause psychosis. If you decide to ingest something armed with the knowledge that it may cause a disorder in the future, and you continue to do so, then you really don't care. Sure, it may be a bunch of bullshit and the correlation may be spurious, I'd just prefer not to throw the dice with my brain, and I think others would agree.

O btw, Marijuana IS a drug.

If you start at something like before 16, your chances of developing paranoia/psychosis are much greater.
However, when it comes to marijuana, the effects it has on every particular individual are different; what may be true for your friends may not necessarily be true for you.
As long as you make sure it's you controlling the drug, and not the other way around, you should be fine.

Weed can affect different people in different ways, the same with any kind of drug or medicine, legal or not, some people feel drowsy and sick after taking paracetemol, some people can take them like smarties, it depends on you, your immune system etc.

Cannabis makes you passive and depressive. It also fucks up your cognitive skills. Have fun smoking.

/In before the ignorant, flabbergasted potheads raid this thread divertingly claiming that long-term implications are predictably equal for every individual. "Its all in your head guy". Spare us.

    Whoops, im too late.

Indeed. Cocaine and opium are plants as well. Not drugs.

Firstly, Weed is the answer to the UK's Economic downturn.

If the government legalized weed, They could tax the fuck out of it and make ALOT of capital. Like Cigarettes for example. 80% of those are tax and people still buy. So this would be the same for weed, maybe even a greater demand.

As for all you fags who discriminate against the plant that god made, I suppose you all drink Alcohol? Right, 450,000 deaths a year due to the legal phenomena Alcohol. Lets take a look at the Cannabis side? NOT A SINGLE REGISTERED DEATH DUE TO DIRECT CONSUMPTION OF CANNABIS. wow...

We all know the reason why weed was made illegal right? I thought not. The reason why this herb was made illegal was due to a beautiful substance that it can produce. HEMP, now hemp can be used to make all sorts of clothing. It is also extremely cheap compare to other products we use to create our clothes. Now...The big businesses saw this, they saw hemp as a competition that would ridicule their profits. Now there's the real reason.

Now for the famous one. Paranoia. Think of it this way...Would you really be paranoid about smoking cannabis if it wasn't for the men in blue? If cannabis was legal would you be scared to smoke it? The only reason people suffer from paranoia, is that God's herb is reinforced by the police.

Finally from a religious point of view. In the bible it states that even jesus smoked weed. It goes along the lines of 'They burned the leaves and inhaled the smoke, they felt a weird sensation'. Also in the bible it says god gave us the animals, trees,PLANTS,etc. Why would god want to give us something that would hurt us?

    Epic troll post. *claps*

you have a blisteringly dark, deviantly clever sense of humor. I love how you were able to parody the cliche absent-minded fiend mentality while taking a stab at the absurdity of religion both in and out of context. "Why would god want to give us something that would hurt us?" - BRILLIANT.

Uncanny imitation of a complete moron. Uncanny.

Smoking that young will most likely turn you into a stoner by the end of high school. I would hold off a bit, but if you don't want to, enjoy it while it lasts because you'll need to get a job eventually.

Smoke pot if you want to, its not a big deal. Just don't become a "just-legalize-it-man" pothead. It'll fuck up your lungs, fuck up your teeth, and fuck up your life if not done in moderation

    Marijuana - the real effects?

I use Marijuana, the only negative things I have ever noticed after around 3 years of occasionally and the past few months of almost every day are as follows:

    Falling asleep at 8:00 pm
    Eating.
A slight cough sometimes in the mornings

If you use a vaporizer there are really no negative health effects. Joints & anything you light has carcinogens due to the fact you are lighting it on fire.

Don't smoke. End of. You start with 2 a week, it turns into 2 a day, it turns into 4 a day.

I smoke and have been for 8 years. It has fucked up parts of my life and I live in an almost constant state of paranoia.

Any "stoner" who tells you all this bull about it being fine etc obviously only smokes occasionally.

Edit: Quite a serious 300th post. I am sparta?

If you're going to smoke pot and don't want to deal with negative side effects, why wouldn't you do it with moderation...?

In moderation it is fine, of course I'm not one to talk. Take it from me--I've smoked everyday for 5 years, i'm fine physically, but I ended up getting in law issues from stealing for it. Never resort to that, I regret it so much. Luckily it happened before i turned 18, so that my record was erased.

I also dropped out of school, but I was doing bad in school before i even knew what weed was. I found I did better in school & focused more when i was high (Recently was diagnosed with ADD, probably why. Too bad it wasn't caught on to until I got out of high school. Would have did much better if this was discovered then.).

Oh, and most people who develop mental issues from marijuana like schizophrenia, psycosis, etc, already have the issues, weed just emphasizes them, brings it out more.

Also, come on now--whats worse? Cigs & Alcohol, or weed? If I had a kid I'd sure rather him/her smoke weed than drink or smoke cigs.
