How has runescape damaged your life?

Spent a fair amount of money on memberships, botting auths, gold, etc.
Skipped school plenty of times to play, skipped social events to play. I was addicted Ill admit it. Only after quitting I realized how pointless playing at all even was.

Didn't really harm my way of life.
I know how to mix, and how to set priories.

 

Runescape kind of ruined my childhood I guess, I didn't really play outside much...but grade wise it didn't affect me but there were times where I would say I was busy and play Runescape instead of going over a friend's house...

I haven't actually grinded/done anything on Runescape in over 3 years...This was because I started botting...

It has been a while since I had quit, but I guess you could say Video Games as a whole, have pretty much caused a dent in my social life.

I'm not an outcast, but I'm pretty sure if I hadn't been on xbox and steam so much then I might be higher up in the so called "social status" of my high school. I still play sports and NOW I probably will choose chilling with a friend over video games... (unless a new video game comes out, then I am at the mercy of it SKYRIM!!!)

All in all, I don't regret any of it and even if I did, there's no way to change what has been done.

my only regrets would be when I was younger I would take my Parents credit card every now and then and buy a couple of Mil.

and also,having played it for so long yet still haven't achieved anything of note, I'm too impatient and just keep creating different accounts..

 

Time...

It's taken SO much time out of my life. It makes me kinda sad to look back and think of how much better that time could have been put to use. I'd really like to know how much different my life would be if I had never started playing, or at least never got addicted.

Snuck online at the middle of the night and cracked my parents password for the computer several times....

 

Lol those are basically the same reasons. Cept I didn't steal my parents cards.

 

When I was really in to it my friends were as well so it was another cool way to hang out with them, I kept playing a little while after they finished up and it stole some time I could have spent else where but I really only have one moment I can remember where I went to go hang out with some friends but once there I just got 81-82 woodcutting instead of playing games with them. I'm not gonna lie though, I wish I had never heard of/played runescape. I was the one who brought it into my friends group and all that time could have been spent else where. What ever, shit happens.

 

My girlfriend thinks it's cute that I made a youtube video on getting 99 herblore, yeah she makes fun of me a bit but she thinks its hot and nerdy.

So, runescape has given me nice sex once?

I also remember back in the 6th grade, in 2002-2003 this kid stole my addy plate and r2h on RSC. We ended up fighting and got suspended.

 

I'm 19 years old and I started playing at like what.. 11 or 12 years old(5thgrade I guess) I think it was a primary cause of my social anxiety, because i moved right before 6th grade so all I did was play RS lmao.. But even so, I've been playing video games all the time since i was 4. I did really shitty the entire time I was in school, and I get pissed easily.

 

On the one hand, it caused me to do pretty bad in school (well, at least at first) back when I was in school.

On the other hand, I met my wife on RS (how gay, right?), so I guess it evens out.

 

I'm still addicted in this weird way. Every time I get on I lose all my money, then buy more and it just depresses me...

Depression, back problems from playing on a laptop in bed, tons of time, missed opportunities, a bad relationship with my parents that has led to me leaving now. I live with my girlfriend and barely talk to my parents these days..

My brain hurts a lot now a days and I feel like a fuck-up. I wish RuneScape just never existed some times..

 

Same here.. I'm about to leave with my girlfriend. I haven't really had a nice normal conversation with my parents in like 4 years.

 

Has ruined my life to be honest, but has also taught me some good life skills so I'm glad I found it. Not so glad about the addiction...

 

Agreed, I know have epic computer skills, if it wasnt for Runescape i'd still be on PS3

 

I too wasted many years with this game, it damaged my social life very much. But i have quit in the past year or two and life has been great! Although i did gain a massive amount of computer skills and made $10k+ From a private server so i'm good now.

 

Botting literally helped me overcome addiction.

 

I have no regrets about Runescape, I started in 2005, so I was in 7th-8th grade. I played Runescape because I enjoyed it, the grind was fun in moderation, and I loved accumulating wealth and playing with my real life friends.

Luckily for me, I played Runescape during the 'craze' era, which is to say that everybody and their grandmother played it. This made it a lot of fun, the only time it became a problem in the real world for me is if one of my friends had scammed another...then it got pretty ugly.

As for my parents, my Dad hated the game. Pretty much anything I spent too much time on he hated. Whether it be Xbox 360, Runescape, or my elementary fad, which was Yu-Gi-Oh!. He HATED that, but I think by the end of my runescape days he hated runescape even more. That was until I made 5,000 dollars from RWT'ing to help pay for College. This certainly awarded RS some brownie points in his eyes.

As for social life, yeah...Runescape didn't really help. My one girlfriend thought it was 'so cute' hahaha whatever that means. I outlasted all my friends on RS, so while I wouldn't get made fun of for it, they would question why I still played...not that I cared. I do what I want, not do what pleases others. Why the hell should you care if they don't like what YOU'RE doing. It's your life, not theirs..and the fact they have to rain on your parade speaks volumes about the pathetic life they probably lead. It's one thing playing Runescape, making fun of someone for playing it most likely means you need a good kick in the ass.

I wholly enjoyed my time with Runescape, and while addiction set in at times, especially getting 99 RC via natures/ double natures in Abyss, I don't regret any of it. It also helped that I used a survey site to get free members. Therefore I did not have to pay the exorbitant cost to keep my account a member.

 

Only has helped in my life haha. Entertainment as a kid, but it was never my main gaming squeeze as Counter-Strike was there before and after I was big into RS. It taught me basic economics when I was young which was pretty cool. The best thing from it was probably learning to say fuck what people think about me. I knew everyone from my school just wasnt in the popular crowd by choice, mainly because douche bags are douche bags... Also allowed me to browse the internet while i let my character WC which let me learn many new things. It made me different which can either be good or bad depending on the way you deal with it.. I decided to just run with being weird which works also as comedy comes easily when you are intelligent. So only good in my opinion
