Well now, this is a surprise - Microsoft has it open to the public! Anyhow, you can download Windows 7 Beta at the link above. I think it is nice overall, but still needs a few extra tweaks and additions (or removals) here and there.

Probably better than vista. Do you think so?

 

I heard about this a bit ago... 7 will be better I thinks... I read an article about it awhile ago... Seems like they are trying to make it decent...

 

I also heard that seven would be faster and better than Vista,hopefully its compatibility would include XP applications,that would be great.

And I bet you have no idea what you're talking about.

Unlike MOST people who just sit there and say "Vista is crap!" because other people say so, I've actually looked in to how it works, and I must say overall it is much more efficient than XP.

As for compatibility - the only reason why Vista doesn't support some applications is because Microsoft is starting to stop supporting deprecated technology. Live with it.

I downloaded this but haven't installed due to the lack of a DVD drive on my other PC.

 

Is it worth downloading it? That's all I want to know.

Oh, and I've used it for a few minutes on a virtual machine. I didn't notice anything new but the taskbar.

 

I've been actually been using it as my main OS for like 6 days. Its amazing. Best new feature is the button on the bottom right hand corner. Hover over it transparencies all your windows, click it and minimizes them all.

Also, the new icon for windows with child windows that you click on hover is also very useful. I haven't even gone past the halfway point yet. You can have like 100 firefox's open and it only displays one icon. Also the drag the windows order on the taskbar is also really useful.

It did BSoD on me though. I installed an antivirus called superantispyware (use it with vista). Crashed it, twice. I just uninstalled the files that did manage to install (it crashed during installation) and everything is good.

It's also amazingly fast

The first impression is amazing. Look a lot like Windows Vista, but no lag, no operation failures. I can't wait for the full release, should be on August 1st. Than you Swanzor.

 

If i dl the trial will I have it stuck on my computer?

 

I think so, you can always format them and get XP on.

 

I need to know the pros before I download it.

What advantage does it have over xp specifically?

I'll swap my rock for a copy.

I'll eventually replace XP with a copy of Windows 7, but I'm waiting at least until the testing stage is over. A few friends have it on their laptops, it looks nice at the very least. It also beats XP/Vista on most benchmark tests.
