Where do I start?

Hey GFX-ers. I would like to start getting into some graphics and making my own signatures, banners, headers, and what not. I've created a lot of websites & forums in the past and will continue to do so, and I often rely on other people to create the graphics for me. I would like that to change though, so I would be able to save a lot of cash if I made my own banners/headers.

Anyways, where do I start? What program does everybody use and works best?

Try downloading Photoshop 30-day trial off Adobe, then see how you like it. Read some tutorials on how to get started.

Photoshop CS4. There is a way to get it for free with torrents, etc. If you want it legit, I'm not sure what the price is, but it is probably around $200. If you don't want to spend money, or do anything illegal, get GIMP, it's free.

To start off, just follow some random beginner tutorials with either signatures, forum buttons, etc. Google is your best friend!

 

Most people torrent it or use the school's or somethings photoshop i love photoshop the best and then i use some text editor programs for awesome text...

Actually CS4 is $699 USD.

Anyways, just go to Adobe and download the trial. You can then either look for tutorials or you can just experiment around (That's how I started.)

 

You COULD use photoshop.

But for beginners like you, go to www.gimp.org

It's basically an easier version.
