How do animals think? Or is it all just instinctive and doesn't need the thought process...

I'm sure I'm not the first who this has occured to, so, thoughts?

Also, does this mean that the humans have always had language, to some degree, in the past?

I'm sure you know plenty of things that you couldn't possibly put into words, or at least not on the spot. Same situation for animals, I would assume.

Again, it limits you. There's only a very small category of things you can think about with images.

It doesn't cut down how much you can think. Maybe we're different, but when I'm thinking, I usually don't have to express it in words. If I know what I'm doing I usually don't need to think "Okay I'm going to do this, then I'm going to do that, then that, etc"

I'm sure animals don't sit and wonder about the weather, or shit like that. They don't need to.

I know what you mean, I was thinking about that the other day. Just living off instinct. Consider deaf people who never learn how to speak or even blind + deaf people (from birth).
Animals probably already have preset thoughts about certain topics which activate when the situation comes up. INSTINCT

 

I've wondered this myself. Animals, I would assume, have their own 'language' so they can follow their own instincts.
