Website Username Checker

Hey,

Would this be something people would be interested in? Am curious, have been able to develop one and figured I'd see if it was something the community could use.

They have one in game now that has no error. Even tells you if it's banned or taken.

 

If you could make one that is faster than the one in game, then I'd be interested in it.

Two flaws about the one in game are
1. It's a tad bit slow compared to the website one on the runescape.com site
2. Interrupts what you are currently doing (can't check a name while you're woodcutting)

Don't even get me started on the runescape.com site one... It always has errors when you type in too many names too fast.

 

Already exists would be no point unless you have something better.

 

1) It's currently faster than the in-game one. Example streamable:

2) It's on a website, so it doesn't interrupt what you're doing.

 

Read what I quoted to RazzyMazir, I'm also looking for any ideas for tools I could develop for the community. Currently this username checker is built in a combination of python, php, javascript.

WOW! I thought you were planning on making something really shitty and it would have a terrible design that looked too advanced. This looks amazing and the design looks super easy to use! Keep up the work dude holyyyyyyyy shit

 

Haha no, I am not a shit dev. Trying to find things to help satisfy my development needs. Any suggestions would be great.

You're more than welcome to google search for it. It's currently live on a website. I'm not sure how keen this site is on giving website address's out. I tried posting it on reddit (That was a no-no), even on rot, and that was an even bigger no-no. Not sure if they are just not wanting a tool like this to be released or they are just paranoid of link posting. A good phrase to google search for would be:

"2007scape username checker"

 

As a quality of life update to your script, I'd recommend that you make it easier to function. There is a name checker that I use for league of legends that you can copy paste entire 10,000 word lists into the checker and it will let you know how many of those names are available, and if not when they will become available.

I am currently working on implementing such functionality. I am currently on a tiny VPS and will more than likely be moving to a more dedicated server here soon which would be able to handle the constant pings to Jagex's servers of whichever names that are checked.

List function will be out here soon as well.

Sorry for the late replies on this, been currently working on some other things as well.

 

I'm looking forward to hearing about the final product. The entire project seems pretty neat.

I've gotten the username checker to a great point as of today, people have been using it a bit, and someone has even found themselves an OG username by using it. It even has a list mode now, which you can see below.

Sweet! I know we've had quiet a few people recently check some of their names at the site now, knowing there's 23 pages of log now. I did have to add in an exception for a single name though, and if anyone can tell me why this name shows as such, then that would be great:

This name is available by all definitions, all of Jagex's serverside systems say that it is available, even the one I use to check names, you can go to oldschool.runescape.com and attempt to sign up with it, and it will say it's available, you can go to runescape.com and signup with it, and it'll say available, however the moment you attempt to register it, an error occurs on their site, not sure why, the name may be a banned name (For some reason?) or an admin accounts name, I am going to go with the ladder as I've seen ban names come across on my method and they perfectly show that they are unavailable, but once again, if anyone has an idea on that name, don't hesitate to PM me.
