    Warnings from Jagex?

I know that Jagex used to warn you for botting and give you a temporary ban, then they moved to permanent bans, I was just curious if they still perm ban you for botting or do they give you second chances or temporary bans? Thanks:)

It's a permanent ban now. They switch back and forth for whatever reasons, and right now there are no resets or warnings.

That's what I thought. I thought if you babysat your bot and if you saw a hand pointing at you, that's when you were being warned and if you continued it would pick you up and send you to botany bay for the Perm Bam. I could be wrong on that, I have not been paying attention to my accounts :p

One of my bots got banned perm a week ago, no prior warning was given. Tbh, I kind of wish I could see the demon finger pointing at a bot, I have yet to see that.

As have I, apparently it happens frequently in populated worlds at the Grand Exchange. This is completely new news to me, I wonder what their reasoning for the spontaneous bans were. Clearly, the element of surprise is out of the question now dare I say.

Since Botany Bay I've actually seen mostly perm bans (including an iDung user).

It says that there should be 2 temps, then a perm, but I've yet to see many people actually receive that.

According to Runescape Wiki, the 3 strike system is not yet in place, but who knows for sure until a Jagex Mod makes an official statement, which none have yet, to my knowledge.

Botany Bay works on a system of 3 strikes. On each strike, an interface will pop up on the detected player's screen detailing their punishment.

This is what the strike system will look like:

    1. The detected account is issued a twelve-hour ban, during which time it is also removed from the high scores. When they're getting temporarily banned, the bot sees an interface with Mr. Mordaut appear on their screen. Other players see a giant dragon claw trying to grab the player, but the player's skin is peeled off revealing that it's actually a bot in disguise. After the ban expires, the account is placed under trade restrictions for a further 48 hours, starting on the first login. During this time period, the account cannot trade with other players, use the Grand Exchange or the Squeal of Fortune, enter the Wilderness, or play any PvP minigames. Accounts under restriction that attempt any of these activities will automatically say, "I can't do that because I've been using a bot.". In addition, items dropped by the account will immediately be destroyed, to prevent drop trades.

    2. The detected account is issued a second ban, this time for 48 hours instead of 12. The detected player sees an interface with Black Knights and Elite Black Knights pop up. The player's skin is removed again revealing that it's actually a bot in disguise just like their first ban. After the ban expires, the account is placed under the above trade restrictions, this time for seven days instead of two, starting on the first login.

    3. The detected account is permanently banned, with no chance to appeal. The bot sees an interface pop up on their screen. Other players will see a large claw point at the detected player from above, reveal it to be a bot like before, but this time grab it. A deep voice will say "Bot user!" when this happens. The bot is then sent to stand trial at Botany Bay, unless a trial is already taking place on the world it was logged into, in which case it is simply permanently banned.

And here are the screenshots of the different ban screens after each strike:

Here's some trivia that explains the odd usernames of the 'bots' in botany bay:

When users that are using bots are caught their usernames are changed to protect the identity of the player.

I've seen the claw come down and ban many adbots, but that's about it.

Also would like to add that the chances of someone receiving a Banned Account Reinstatement process are slim. I have yet to see a single user who received a ban on Sythe report that they were given a reinstatement option. What baffles me is how they don't offer this option more often as it requiers a fee to un-ban your account, it's a cruel but effective method for Jagex to gain money.

Majors receive permanent bans, minors receive warnings.

Haha, that BANNED screen is pretty scary. Imagine logging on and you had a few PHATS and seeing BANNED i'd be pissed. I think they just hand out perms now, I guess they had enough.

I'm pretty sure they use temp bans still sometimes.

Then again you are ruining their business by botting/gold farming so they have their justification as well.

Probably improving it by paying for membership on each of the accounts that are gold farming and also then selling the gold to people, and when they have the gold they will want to play RS for longer as RS is more fun when you have more gold. In the long run they are benefiting Jagex's profits.
