VM help?

Hey all, im on a 2009 macbook that can't update it's software (most importantly can't update java) because it was an old school computer and it's network connection is set to the schools or whatever.

But enough about that, i just want to be able to run a windows virtual machine able to run powerbot. does anyone know a good one? obviously free. and hopefully one that doesn't make my computer lag mega!

You can bootcamp and just boot into windows, that would make the least lag.
You can also try running it though WINE (google it, it's a windows emulator).

Why can't your 2009 MacBook update software/java? 2009 isn't even very old? You are sure?

 

It only has mac, can't boot into windows ? WINE doesn't work for me.

Because it can't connect to the update server.

And I'd just try to figure out/fix your update error, rather than try to use a VM/Dual boot etc.

I'm sure there is some easy fix, google around or something, there is no reason a 2009 mac can not be able to update things properly.

 

I've tried, it's honestly impossible to update it because it's connection update server is my old school's one and i can't change it to be my own home server or whatever.

 

Reformat it, and make it fresh and brand new :].
Then you can do whatever you want.

I've googled it, there's absolutely nothing.

 

ive never heard of a vps being free or else i think alot of people would be using free vps, i have a mac and i havent figured out how to do that at all either, which is why i bought a pc.

 

We are not talking about VPS/VPN here.
We are talking about dual booting or running a virtual machine.

A virtual machine is like running another operating system within your operating sysem. Ex: Running Mac in a window inside windows, or vice versa.

None of it is like remote access like VPS/VPN you are running it all on your own computer.

 

Just installed virtual box, trying to create a setup thing and run it in windows as we speak.

 

Successfully installed windows xp on virtual box, loading the rsbot client as we speak.
