Using Dual Monitors.

Ok, i have 2 monitors and they are both hooked up so i can move my mouse from one to the other.

I would like to know how i can play a game on one screen, and use msn/irc on the other screen.

When i tried, it sort of bunched my desktop onto my smaller screen and wouldn't let me move my mouse over from the game i was playing.

Ideas I have.
It would depend on the game, as I believe for Wow you would need to edit the source.
If it were a browser game, you could simply move one to each screen, post the game here i'll find out what I can.

Set the game's resolution to your primary monitors native res, and run the game in windowed mode. It's the only way.

That's just how DirectX works.

 

What is 'Windowed mode' =S

if all else fails launch the game with the -w parameter (right click the shortcut, and change the location to "c:\whereverthegameis\nsdjnsg" -w)

 

Umm, My friends Dual Monitor is a TV

 

I put it in 'windowed' mode and it was in a tiny box in the corner of my screen.

I also can't move my mouse out of the oblivion box in the corner to re-size or anything.

When i do the -w thing, it blanks out all the options and only lets me click one button, which takes me to their website =[

Any other ideas?

 

What software are you using? Are you using Nvidia control panel to manage your dual monitors? Try using Ultramon, its a software that is based for dual monitors and it has many options you can use. Try it out and tell me what happens. I used it before, but its been a while.

Oh ya btw, I remember playing warrock and using msn messenger. But it got annoying when you wanted to just strictly play the game. So just to say, it could be done.

I had dual moniters before... I always read shit while playing games but i could not change it... try Alt-tabing to the message window...

 

keep it in windowed mode. Change the games resolution to your monitors native resolution. To switch from the window, hit alt+tab

 

No way you can do it .. exept its a game in a window of your internet explorer.

Other way cou can play game in a window-mode orsomething, like you can do it with cs(Counter-strike) .

 

like jansen said, put it into a window, then press pause or like stop the game so the mouse reappears (this is the same on counterstrike, the mouse doesnt move unless you pausethe game, then resize the window.
