Thats completely false. Alcohol just takes longer to process than the average soft drink. 1 drink (1 beer bottle, 1 wine glass, 1 shot) takes 1 hour to process. Death from alcohol poisoning is from having too many in a short period of time. It doesn't kill your liver, it overloads the liver until it shuts down, which kills you. If you drink 1 drink per hour, you will be the same as a person who doesn't (excluding being more sociable). Thats why people have social drinks, it gives you a buzz making you more talkative.

Parents who realize that letting their kids try a little alcohol at a young age isn't the end of the world. Give them an idea what it's about, educate them as a parent. THAT is responsible parenting.

In Australia, you can legally get drunk at age 18.
You can legally drink at age 16 on private property and with parental consent.
