    You are trying to connect to 'read'...that resolves to nothing.

    You need to connect to irc.sythe.org

    /server irc.sythe.org

    Or to connect straight into the the right channel type;
    /s irc.sythe.org -j #sythe

    Once you're in you'll need a registered Nick (/ns register <password> <email>)
