Two Screens

Okay, Im wondering if I connect an external LCD monitor (1024 x 728 ) to my laptop, will it act as a second screen.

As in can I have my runescape client open on the LCD monitor and watch a movie on my laptop screen?

 

You should be able to use it as your screen or a second screen.

 

Would I have to configure it somehow?

 

Get a connector. Dont know what they are called but im pretty sure they are widely sold. Just search around on google or amazon and stuff.

 

Can you elaborate on this connecter? Isnt it just the normal VGA cable which comes with the screen?

 

If your laptop has one on it... Its really easy to do on Windows.

 

You won't need a splitter / connector. If you have 2 ports right now it's fine.

All you have to do is go to your monitor settings on windows and set the primary and secondary monitor in the right order. Then on the second monitor you just click on 'extend desktop to this monitor'.

 

Two ports? I have the old VGA hole and HDMI hole.

 

Then you're fine. Just plug the other monitor in and you're good to go. You'll need to configure it to be either a copy of your primary display or an extended display in either the control panel > display options, or your gpu control panel.

You don't need any connectors or adapters or anything.
