You need to study Object Orientation to understand some of Java's core concepts. As for general programming, learning is generally just a memory exercise.

For example, if I want to print some text to the console, I know that the following code will do so:

System.out.println("hello world!");

For the most part, it is just memorizing which functions are where and what they do.

Also keep in mind that things such as user interfaces are more complex to program, therefore you're best sticking with console applications for the first few months of learning. Unless of course, you use a GUI builder such as the ones offered in the Microsoft Visual Studio suite, however I don't like GUI builders, as I like to program my own interfaces my own way

 

Baha, does anyone here use Dark BASIC Pro? I got it from some relative for my birthday (fuck me if I remember who) and I want to use it. I also got some dictionary heighted 500paged book that really doesn't do much for me when I'd rather be reading some Philip Reeves or something XD

 

I value online tutorials for things because i fucked up my credits and i can't take electives this year. AARRRGH. Thanks i really need to catch up with programming.
