Didn't know where to post it since it applies to all section but.

    Everyone who wants to learn
    -SQL
    -C++
    -DirectX manipulation
    -HTML
    -Java
    -VB

should take a peep at http://sean.cruels.net

It's made by a guy named Sean Greasley. He goes over the basics on his computer with his mic. He goes through each of these languages mentioned above.

If a mod could sticky it so that it can be seen in all sections, it would be nice.

I apologize if I post it again when it's been posted already.
    Thanks :)

I remember looking at these when I first started here, at Sythe.org... Good times.

Thanks for posting, though I doubt anyone will actually use them, due to stupidity. :p Still, thanks. :)

I think that this could be stickied for the newbies. You might like to make the "sean.cruels.net" in your post a hyperlink for the lazy bastards.

Edit: fixed link to make it clickable.

This has helped me some, I'm taking a Computer Programming class in highschool right now, and well he has actually taught me more than the instructor has. She's going over all kinds of other stuff that she says is very important before we get coding, but I'm more of a hands on kind of learner and this helped a ton.

    Thank you!

Just realize that this stuff she is teaching you is probably very important as she says, but you probably won't understand it until you understand a bit more about programming. Once you become somewhat experienced in whatever language, I recommend revising these "important" things.

I don't use VB6. I use Java, C# or (for smaller things, I'm not quite a professional), C++. And most of what I make is personal interest. Meaning, I don't release them.

Yes, she reassures us that it is important, and will make more sense the later we get into it. I am just anxious to learn actual coding, but she says that there's a lot more than just the coding. She's teaching it as if we were going to take a field into it as a career, not for some teenager to use for his own personal use in his own time.

I'm a teenager that programs stuff in his personal time, and I find theory very important.

Any of the .Net languages are fine to start with. If you're feeling adventurous I'd say Microsoft Visual C# .Net or Java, but if you are unsure of your abilities and don't understand the general concepts, Visual Basic .Net is always an option.

Delphi isn't as universal I don't think. It is a fine language and all, but I think there is more benefit in .Net or Java as a beginning language due to the sheer amount of usability and user friendliness. I've always found Microsoft's .Net platform to be better than Borland's development suites.
