Transferring Display Names!!

Hey can anyone tell me how to xfer a display name safely? its not a super-rare name, but its a name i want and will probably be taken by all the rs name finder bots.


Ive heard of the method of getting one name reported to get reset. idk if it still works, if it does, can someone explain it? thanks!

 

You can change the name on the account you want given the rare name to something offensive. When it is reported it will show a box asking for a new name, you could then change the account with the rare name's account and ASAP change it on the new account. This could be risky, as you would have a couple of second long gap though :L

 

do i have to be logged onto the rare name account to see this 'box'?

 

It would occur on the new account you want to transfer the name to, again the only problem would be the couple of second gap you have (which would vary on how fast you are).

Account with rare name = account 1.
Account you want the name transferred to = account 2.

Change the name on account 1 to whatever, something random, doesn't matter. as long as it's different to the current name on it.
You will then have to wait a further 28 days before you can change the name again. Once this wait is up, you will then change the name AGAIN to get known as "last known as -rare name-".
You must have account 2 on another computer, or another browser (eg. firefox and chrome, so you can log in to 2 runescape accounts on their home page).
As you change your name for the second time on account 1, you change your name to the rare name on account 2.

Done.

 

The offensive name method is really risky. I attempted it and the name was reset whilst I was offline and the name was taken.

I suggest changing the rare name account, and waiting a few months before changing it again and then changing it over. This way it's harder for snipers to take it. Also, avoid telling anyone you're transferring it.

 

It wouldnt be last known as -rare name- because you changed it twice, therefore it'd be 'last known as uvabqiheh9'

 

I have a 3 letter name with no numbers, is it rare?

 

Not if its something like pyb, but if its a word/ aaa then possibly

 

Semi-rare, they are extremely common, however.

This transferring name business is extremely risky - I have had a several hundred million GP name deal hijacked by name snipers before

Anyway, GL and beat those pesky name snipers.

 

Thing is I really want the name and use it for my main but I dont want to get membership and everything then get sniped
