Total Noobie Need Help =(

Well I am completely 100% new to programming but I am very interested in it. I want to learn as much as I can about game design and how mmorpg(s) work. I know a little about html and can use the internet as a resource to make very simple web designs. I'm not so much interested in web design as much as game design. Where should I begin and where can I get very basic information on mmorpg design. My eventual goal is to make a small online community kind of like runescape. I was thinking I could start off with one small city after I get comfortable with mmorpg design (most likely in 10 years )

Thanks in advance for any help, also the reason I put this in the Java section is because I think rs runs using java script? Am I right? If not please move!

Java is not JavaScript... God...

Runescape uses Java. Javascript it used for cool crap on websites. Like disabling right click and crap. Also reloading the page every second using JS is fun too.

I say buy a book then take classes if you want to go into game design. :/

Yeah, I am currently still learning java, but I would say I am at the intermediate level now, but I started out by downloading torrents and getting good java books. Than I paid for a class, and that really pushed my level up.

 

Try reading the '[subject] for dummies' books. They explain each part rather nicely.

 

I actually have the pdf file on my computer. Java Programming for dummies. It is really good, I have read it and I learned a ton from it. If you need it I can host it for you.
