Thought's on EOC?

It took me 3 minutes to get used to EoC and make it not complicated. Seriously, just try it before you whine about it being too difficult.

I really like that PVP fights are no longer just random-number-generator based, especially staking. Rather than clicking once and hoping you win with no real power over the outcome, you now get the chance to influence your win with the right timing of abilities and counter-abilities.

 

Yeah i found when i first logged on i absolutely raged because it was foreign to me. Rage logged off. Today i logged back in, did the combat training thing, sorted it all out, I'm actually quite fond of the action bar now

 

I totally agree with what your saying, that is the uphand of the abilities, i just dislike the layout. Getting used to it now though .

 

It's just like a knock off WoW and anyone who says different doesn't play WoW. I didn't quit WoW to play another gay version of it.

Actually its nothing like WoW.

WoW requires a lot more skill to play if you try standing still and pressing actionbar buttons to do damage you will get owned. On rs you can stand still and be one of the best players in game. RS is basically a dumbed down version of all MMOs. Most people who can't play WoW pvp or pve would still be very good at rs pve or pvp because you can just stand and spam buttons.

Don't compare rs to WoW solely because they took the concept from all MMOs of having an action bar for abilities which should have came long ago. RS is still behind most MMOs when it comes to gameplay. The update was needed but they need to change the whole movement system. In my opinion they should follow a system similar to diablo but this wouldn't be possible on a web browser system.

 

It's not like WoW, but I agree that Jagex have tried taking aspects of WoW and putting them into RS. It hasn't really worked out well either, the combat system might offer some improvements, but it still feels cheap and out of place compared to the old system.

It doesn't feel like RS anymore, when you use an action bar.

There is more people that dislike it than like it. I think in future updates it will be good. Got to give them a chance.

 

Don't have the time nor desire to learn the new combat system and the changes that came with it.

 

I was in the same mind yesterday, I was contemplating quitting when they first announced it and I've avoided the beta purposely. Turns out, after a quick 20 minute tutorial and loads of exp books as a reward, they seemed to have buttered me up and I'd say I'm not too bothered any more. There aren't exactly stacks of abilities, and it becomes really obvious what ones are the best to use and in what order. Soon enough there'll be the ideal combination and everyone will be using it - till then it's trial and error, which is a bit laborious. Honestly, it isn't as bad - go in to it with an open mind and I'm sure you'll convert =p

 

Action bars and rs don't mix. The simplicity of the game is why I played. I left keybind's behind with WoW.

 

I quite like the combat update - I think it can be a bit annoying but is better than just watching your player hit as it gets you involved, however so far I have found not a single good method for range. I am very confused about it and which I had got it before the Eoc...

 

I believe Number1Bosss suggested duel royal c-bows when he was killing frost dragons. Not sure which bolts he was using however, but perhaps that will work?

 

yesterday was the longest i have legitimately played runescape in months outside of the occasional bossing session. After doing the combat academy i enjoyed it quite a lot,working out strategies with the action bar and having to investigate enemies weaknesses and not just bringing rapierand effectively owning everything makes the game alot better imo. Old rs was boring as fuck, clicking EVERYTHING in the same gear aimlessly is not fun.

A few things i really dislike is the meager differences that potions and prayer makes. Seems incredibly less significant. Also soulsplit is pretty weak now, if you dont time it out with good abilities (usually ultimates) its pretty ineffective, but with a proper ability it can easily heal 2k+ in a pretty quick flash.
Them nerfing prayer bonuses got some strong rage from me, SW cape is only +6 prayer... thats fucking bullshit. I did nomad at a lowish level (88) and it was hard as fuck for me at that point in time and i spent 1-2m in supplies getting that shit along with a lot of time and frustration for them to 1/2 the capes bonus just pisses me off so much, havent checked prossy out but im sure its fucked as well seeing as trimmed capes are only +2 bonus too -_-.
Also seems like everything is weak to range now, black demons, grotworms, blue dragons, waterfiends and a handful of others i slayed last night were ALL weak to range and i got those tasks all in a row. Irritating to say the least, all in all i like the update and maybe it will kickstart some life into this dying game. Might have influenced me to renew my membership again as i had completely lost interest before hand. Sorry for long post.

 

That's very true. It is still relatively easy in comparison and even then you can use an ability which simply boosts your attacks power to be comparable to the old combat system.

Quite honestly if people think it's too hard to grasp, they need serious help.

definately make sures that i stay away from playing this game

If people now die in seconds, where is the skill involved in that?

 

Royal cbow is 2h and not dual-weild, and he was probably using dragon bane bolts.

I've seen 250-300k xp/hr using dual cbow, broad bolts, and a cannon. Keep in mind that everywhere is multicombat now, so a cannon is very effective.
