There needs to be address/ ID verification for this to work. Phone number is way too easy. This is gonna result in more scams.

Even if he could a phone number doesnt mean shit . What would happen a text bomb or something? a possible benefit i see to this is the possible extra proof to catch vaders (you can change a MSN for free where as changing a phone # usually cost money). But if its not a requirement scammers arent going to provide their phonenumber, this could also be beneficial for account recovery because people cant hijack a phone number (to my knowledge) and if someones IP changes they could verify with their phone that they are who they say they are .

 

This - If someone is dumb enough to scam after verifying their number, then the number is more than likely a throw away sim card.

Brb get a sim, verify my account, scam, throw it away and get a new one.

 

Sim's are like £5 over here, so vaders are going to have to pay £5 every time to create a new account. Then again vaders usually scam more than £5 each time.

 

Most the time scammers dont even change their MSN to vade and scam again, i doubt the vast majority of them will even consider changing their number .
