I have a general health question, I'm 19 and haven't really taken care of my body that well. Eating junk food not working out etc. I have started getting in shape now (lost over 30 pounds). Started working at a warehouse just to get in shape. I have noticed I gained muscle very rapidly but then they just stopped getting bigger.

So I am wondering before work should I take any kind of supplements etc. Also what is some good vitamins for me to take just for everyday health.

    Any help is appreciated.

most supplements are just a bunch of bs. to again muscle I would reccomend whey protien shake after and maybe before work. The protein will help your muscles form bigger when they are recovering, also its good to take a multi vitamin

I agree. I've heard shitty things about supplements. I know a guy who runs a gym (I don't know him very well) and he takes a protein shake and loads of vitamins. He also monitors his diet extremely well. He takes in the perfect amount of fat/lipids, vitamins, protein, etc.

Overall, unless you plan on getting buff, I suggest you just take a multivitamin once a day, eat healthy (but be sure to get lots of protein from the foods you eat). Remember you don't want to have too little fat/lipids.
But if you're going to bodybuild, go ahead and take protein shakes with vitamins. I can maybe find a few bodybuilding sites for you if you want?

If you told me what you're trying to accomplish, I can help you a bit better.

There are some before and after workout supplements that aren't too bad for you, but for general health I suggest taking a multivitamin and some type of fish oil. Neither of these with necessarily help with muscle, but are good for over-all health. Whey Protein is good for muscle building, and I don't know of any ill side-effects, just take 2 scoops with your favorite drink after workouts, and 1 scoop with your favorite drink on days you don't work out.

Thanks guys you answered all of my questions. I will resort to sometimes drinking a protein shake and will start taking multivitamins daily. Not trying to become extremely buff but do want some muscle.

Drinking whey protein won't help all that much unless you're actually lifting, if you're just doing your job you'll get enough protein from your meals. Take a good multi vitamin and fish oil. If you're lifting the best pre workout supp is jack3d.

    Well there's two options:

    1) Just take some steroids. Seriously. If you feel the pros outweigh the cons, just go out and grab some. You'll be able to beat a lot of people up and your muscle definition will see near-instant improvement.

    2) Take the long road. Supplements? Fuck that. Protein buddy, and lots of it. I'm talking about eating your weight in protein each and every day. Keep the powders as a last resort; chicken breast, fish, whatever. Carbs to an absolute minimum. Your breath is gonna smell like shit, but the girls won't care, because you're eventually going to make The Situation look scrawny. Obviously combine with intelligent exercise.

Now, if you just want to devote your whole life to a six-pack, I'd combine option #1 and #2. You'll be unstoppable. But you may experience Erectile Dysfunction, and fits of absolute rage. Not sure how you feel about that.

    Good luck.

R2.. I hope you're not serious, #1 is just a joke. #2 is fine but yeah..

You need to hit up some HIIT, or High Intensity Interval Training, its the best way to get toned and into shape, Its the best way to get a 6-pack and gets rid of the X% of body Fat.

If you're serious about Supplements, get some whey or protein shake, they help you build on your muscle and after a few months will have you looking good without any effects of Steroids.

Nothing to joke about, there's plenty of people out there who take steroids. Am I saying you should do it? No, but let's be realistic. If you want to put on muscle and you're too lazy to do it the hard way, steroids might be the answer. Obviously there are downsides to that, and you should research it all yourself, but it's ultimately your decision. If you feel it's worth it, then do it.

I feel honored that you posted on my thread, but I was just looking for a way to continue my muscle growth. I don't want to turn out to be some super freak with bulges bigger than bowling balls. I just wanted to know if I should take anything before I go to work, where I get quite a workout working 10+ hour shifts of manual labor. I get to lift quite a bit but I think most of it is going to my legs and not my arms.

I will definitely try your advice on eating a lot of meat, but I will also research how much protein a protein shake packs vs say a cut of steak. Thanks for the overwhelming response everyone.
