splashing questions?

Hi guys so i've recently started playing rs again (osrs) and i saw some threads about "splashing". After reading some comments from previous threads i assume its doing magic spells that do no dmg. Just wondering so how does this actually work? Can you do this on any monsters? What mage lvl should you start doing this? and lastly can a 1 def pure do this?

 

Yes it works. Yes you can actually do this on monsters. You start at level 1, air strike, till curse. Then curse still fire strike and so on. Yes a 1 def pure can do it.

You should only do this with rats, chickens. Monsters that won't cause you any damage. This is also more effective if you have 40 range. So you could wear vambraces.

 

Okay here you go:
1 Defence splashing: You either need 30 attk 30 str, and 40 + range in order to be able to splash with smoke battle staff. You can do this without 40 range but you'll need to use normal staff + full iron and iron boots.
You can only splash with 1 defence on Chickens, rats and spiders careful where you splash on rats, people can kill them with cats.
30 + defence splashing:
40 + range for vambraces, full addy smoke battle staff basically same as with 1 defence just gear upgrade, do not use full rune, you lose your staff over rune items.
Spots to splash at for 1 defence:
Draynor chicken field
Lumbridge chicken field
Canifis undead chicken field
Spiders down RFD chest
Etc.
Spots to splash with 30 defence +:
Ardougne cow field
Lumbridge cow field
Lumbridge goblins
Canifis undead cows
Goblins at fishing guild

 

why is having 40+ range needed if you can just wear full iron + normal staff? Increase chance to splash?

 

You need -65 mage bonus to 100% splash each hit. This is generally not possible without the negative mage bonus from vambraces

 

you still gain the XP for casting it, so you just don't kill the monster which is AFK and you can just leave your account like that

 

You absolutely need 40 range to splash, so you can wear vambraces.

-Don't splash on Giant Rats if you're 1 def, you'll die.
-Don't ever splash on small rats, people can catch them with mice.
-Don't splash on men / other pickpocket NPCs, people can pick pocket and disrupt the attack.
-If you do it in PVP, you will stay logged in for 6 hours, other worlds, not very long.

 

does splashing still work in non pvp??
