    Speech Problem

Over the last year I have come to figure out I have a lisp, no one told me about it except for one of my friends who brought it up one day. I didn't believe him until I heard myself in a video one day and now I'm kind of self-conscious about this problem. I think I just got it around a year ago because I never remembered myself talking like this. I'm very social and this bothers me now that no one mentioned it to me except for one person. Is there any thing I can do to not have a lisp?

Do you know why you have a lisp? Do you have braces or anything that would make you lisp because your mouth isn't in it's natural position?

I mean it must not be too awful if no one has said anything about it. It may just be minor. You could find out the exact places in words that your lisp is prevalent and practice those words.

Nope don't have braces, I'm guessing I just developed it or something because back then I never heard it in any videos, I'm going to try recording myself talking tomorrow and see if any word's trigger it. Just trying to figure out if there's anything else I can do that can help me out.

I had a lisp in school and my speech therapist tried many different methods, only one specific technique worked however, the teeth method.

Smile with your teeth showing, open mouthed; while smiling and your teeth are showing read a book or some sort of text outloud.

Doing this for roughly a month got rid of my lisp, entirely, hopfully it does for you too! If you have any questions about it let me know.

No problem, if it helps you to see before you do, i suggest YouTubing it before you try.

I believe there are speech therapists that you could see that may help, and for a lisp I don't imagine you would have to have that many sessions. You could also try reading things online about how to get rid of a lisp, or check Youtube and see if there are any self-help videos with tips or guidance on getting rid of it. I'm sure there are many methods out there besides the one Lilly described above.. do some research and find the one that works best for you.

The fact that Lilly has some previous experience with this herself should be quite comforting. It just goes to show that you do have the power to do something about it :)
