    Song Structure

Hello Sythe. Today Im going to teach you how to write a good song.

    Part 1 - Structure
    Intro
This is usually a short instrumental section that "introduces" the song at the beginning.

    Verse
This is one of the main sections of a song and converys most of the storyline. A song usually has several verses, all with the same music but each with different lyrics.

    Chorus
This is often the most memorable section of a son. Unlike the verse, the chorus usually has the same lyrics every time it repeats.

    Bridge
This section is a break from the rest of the song, often a very different chord progression and feel.

    Solo [IMG]
This is an instrumental section, often played over the verse or chorus structure.

    Outro
Similar to an intro, this section brings the song to an end.

If you use all 6 important parts of a song then your song will be great.

    Part 2 - Endings & Repeats

If played all those 6 parts only once, that song would be short. To make the song sound longer without putting in to much work would be to add a repeat.

    Types of repeats

    1st and 2nd ending
These are indicated by brackets and numbers. The first throught a song section, play the first ending and then repeat. The second time through, skip the first ending, and play through the second ending.

    D.S.
This means "Dal Segno" or "From the sign". When you see this abbreviation above the staff, find the sign ([IMG]) earlier in the song and resume playing from that point.

    al Coda
This means "to the Coda," a concluding section in the song. If you see the words "D.S. al Coda," return to the sign ([IMG]) earlier in the song and play until you see the words " To Coda," then skip to the Coda at the end of the song, indicated by the symbol: [IMG].

    al Fine
This mean "to the end." a concluding section of the song. If you see the words "D.S. al Fine," return to the sign ([IMG]) earlier in the song and play until you see the words "Fine."

    D.C.
This mean "Da Capo" or "from the head." When you see this abbreviation above the staff, return to the beginning(of "head") of the song and resume playing.

Just if anyone starting to write a song thought this would help them. Feedback please :)

too simple didn't give much detail anyone who has a music background at all or anyone that has wanted to make a song I am sure already knew all the key parts, this could have been a lot better maybe a 3\10

to the person who said this is a lame topic, you are a complete idiot.

All you really did was point out parts of songs and made a short explanation about them. It may help someone who is unfamilliar with music, but it doesn't really help a person with a basic knowledge of music who is trying to write a song.
    3/10 for the effort.

Still I don't like the guide all that much. I'm a musician and understand these concepts so I think you really could dive further into this subject.

Post some pictures of music using various techniques likes this and explain how they work.

That's what I would do atleast.

As for now I rate it 6/10.

I just want to point out that in the reapeat picture you have, there is no double bar to repeat back to. The line it's on you wouldn't repeat to because it's just part of a bigger phrase. If that doesn't make any sense I can elaborate more on it. I just don't want to pull up MS paint and doodle on the picture to show you.
