Socratic Method

Socratic method is a method of persuasion where when you disagree with someone you ask them 2 or more questions that they agree with and then ask what they think again then they'll agree with you.

Sythe people seem to be a hardcore group of debaters so I thought this would be interesting.

I have know of this technique for a while but I have not been able to use it. Has anyone here been able to use this technique? Or try it sometime and tell me how it goes. This is a skill I would definitely want to learn.

 

We do Socratic Seminars in school, but other then that, thats all...

I do love to debate though...hehe...

i think sythe should have a special forum dedicated to debating.

 

Because it gets the hostile manner lightened down and it is easier to agree when your less threatened by hostile debate. LOL

 

I think I've done it without thinking about it, while giving someone advice... I did it differently tho (not just 2 questions.)

 

I don't know I like this technique because you would have to ask 2 questions that they agree with but in the end there still contradicting themselves so I still think you can be threatening.

Ya the more questions the better. I'm just thinking now and I think I might know how to do it now.
