Tell me your thoughts on this band...

Horrid band, there has already been like 100 threads on this subject and all were in favor of them sucking.

1. Slipknot sucks
2. Theres at least one thread made each month about slipknot
3. They never were good, they never will be
4. Most people here dislike them
5. They are posers and fakes

 

I'm not a huge fan but I wouldn't go as far to say they suck, they have a few good songs and I even got a free ticket to their Sydney show back in October, they are more entertainers than musicians, but overall it was a rather fun experience.

 

I think they're awesome. Their new album isn't that great, but their older songs are awesome, such as: The Blister Exists, (sic), Opium of the People, Purity, Surfacing. The only new songs I like are Sulfur, Child of Burning Time, and All Hope is Gone.

They have made a few good songs; "wait and bleed" for example.
But, really, I'm not into that kind of music. They are mostly known for the masks.

 

Talent is not subjective as we already went over this. It can be determined quite easily with very little effort.

 

Not my favorite band but they have some good songs.
I really like Joey Jordison though (their drummer), he's so damn good.

We already discussed this in the last Slipknot thread. Talent is not an opinion, talent is easily defined and easily proved.

Most beginners can play Slipknot songs, therefore they aren't difficult which means their not talented if they are just making basic shit.

 

^Are you saying that Joey Jordison isn't talented?

 

If you seen the other thread you would understand what he is saying, he isn't referring to The drummer. But every single other person in the band is complete garbage.

I am sorry but that is just ignorant. He wanted to know our thoughts about the band, so we felt obligated you give him our thoughts.

You couldn't say Eric Clapton has no talent, songs such as Layla and tears in heaven are beyond a amateurs level unlike slipknot.

We have already went over this before.

To find talent:

You take the average of every guitarist you take the minimum of skill, that is no talent or very little at best, and then do the same with the highest end of spectrum.

Slipknot would be at average or perhaps a little below. As I said before you can find a scientific way to determine talent.

As stated above. Eric Clapton would be close to the maximum end of the spectrum therefore your little theory does not hold any water.

Even though this isn't directed toward me I feel obligated to give my opinion. I don't think most death metal\grindcore\ and what ever other genres that scream are good singers. Some of the bands can sing well that may be true but generally don't just because mainly it wouldn't go with the song.

 

Talent is not an opinion though.

You can say that in your opinion, Eric Clapton sucks and everyone will go "okay, well thats your opinion". But when it comes to talent, it is not an opinion. Talent can be proved. How can you prove Slipknot has talent? What do they do thats so talented and better than anyone else?

 

Talent is fact when compared at the same level. Like you put up 2 guitarists against each other, it'll be easy to see who has more talent.

Those talent shows are like putting up a drummer against a guitarist, so you can't really compare them accurately. Thats why they have a number of judges to decide.

 

I actually didn't hear much of them before psychosocial, apart from being associated with emos a lot.

Had a listen over just about all their songs now and I can say I genuinely like them.
