should i quit?

Hello I really really like poker more than anything, I have 3 books written by poker pros. so should i stop doing stupid shit like runescape. stupid survey sites, GPT sites.


Note: I currently make 100k a year, but i don't really see any of the statements. So it feels like I'm not making much. I want to do something i really like.

Right now i live in my own 3 bedroom house, and rent my other house out to a friend. I really really am bored and not happy with my life stay up till like 1 am wake up like 10 then watch TV or get on the computer.


I know many of you might say OMG you have the life. IMO i have the worst sure i don't need to worry about $$$ ever but staying home all day doing nothing gets boring.

I never have had a job in my life. I think i might do poker. What are your thoughts?

 

Not sure why this is titled "should I quit?" because I didn't see you mention quitting anything in there ....

But either way... you've just got to remember poker is recreational. It's gambling, which isn't a job, it's a hobby.
"Pro" poker players don't have jobs, they just make money on their hobby.

I'd say if you have nothing else better to spend your money on, then go for it.. have fun with what you have, just when you run out don't try to keep going.

 

100k a year is enough to do just about anything for me 0.0 my parents make around 30k combined a year.

Anyways I woud just find something you enjoy and stick to it

 

thanks guys and i would not risk too much money in poker,but just so you know pokers lots more skill then luck, knowing when you have the pot odds how the players at the table have been playing your chip stack your position at the table much more

 

how do you make 100k per year without a job?

 

I got git in the head by a semi going 70 MPH on the highway when we pulled over then my parents made good investments with the lawsuit

 

In all honesty, you should quit RuneScape if you don't really want to. If you feel like you're playing too much than play less? Play whenever you're bored and if you feel like you're home alone too much...how about gathering a few friends and going out making some new friends or go out to the club and play poker on your spare time and make your $100K/Y.

 

yea but im still in te process of gettin my drivers license even though im almost 20 i need to get a special one since i cant use left arm very well

Okay, if you find yourself bored, how about get a small/fun part time job at a comic book store, or something?
Just something to keep your mind busy, I know how you feel.

Don't quit. Quitting is for failures. Keep doing it. Try to get professional picked to play in a tourney such as WPT. A poker bracelet also looks nice . If not, try finding a hobby such as biking, skating, etc. Not really sure of your age so Idk what types of things you'd be into but anyone can pick up a skateboard.

 

Honestly, you actually never really "quit" because thinking about it, is almost the same as playing it. But only if it bores you.

thanks and i know and just so you know it is math but not all that math that was on that page its about pot odds and knowing how the players at your table are playing conservative, aggressive, super aggressive. Your chip stack and the blinds. what your position at the tables is button or small blind big blind. lots more strategy, and observing than math.

and also poker is like id say 75ish % skill 15ish% luck. you need to get the players bios and be able to read them online or off.

As that adds up to 90%, I would say you do not have the math skills for professional poker.
