Season 4 changes

I'm curious whether I'm going to end up with like 40k from deleted runes I no longer use.
Neat changes, excited to see them rolled out.

 

Read it all, thanks. Now it will be easier for me to understand the changes and they don't come too rapidly to me.

 

I'm glad they're introducing tier demotion. It had to happen, and now being in division V of a tier will still actually mean you belong (or nearly belong) in that tier.

 

Agreed. It's still going to take a while to be demoted though, seeing as you need a mmr of division 5 of the previous league.

 

Yeah, I feel like it should be maybe division II of the previous league.. But there won't be any more people with like 300 wins and 500 losses in x tier, division V who just troll constantly. That's the worst as a booster >.>

This is awesome! I am really glad that they are finally demoting people! Does anyone know if activity or being inactive is still the same?

 

I already forget to use my actives... now I'm gonna forget to use trinkets too T_T

 

I thought about that, then realized that the chance of me being on their team is only about 11% lower than the chance of me being on the other team, so I (and other boosters) barely make an impact on people like them at all

I'd assume inactivity demotions won't change. I haven't heard anything about them myself.

 

I honestly think there ranked changes didn't really fix anything. All they did was make it possible to fall divisions and expand challenger, but nothing really was made to help out the lower leagues. Although I do like the Replay system and teambuilder that they are releasing, that looks cool.

 

What are you wanting them to do that will improve the lower leagues?

the current system doesn't give any lower leagues help at improving at all, usually just making them fall lower and lower.

 

They removed the LP gain limit, that's good enough imo.

Quadrupling the size of challenger tier is a bit extreme imo.

Some awesome changes though. Cant wait to get S4 rolling.

What're your guys thoughts on the Dorans change? I think it opens the opportunity for AD tops to have a dorans start (Tryndamere/Riven/Panth) >_>

I think that making challenger bigger is nice. If you know talk to anyone in Challenger, they all say queue times can be hella long.

I do like the Doran nerf/change/whatever it is. Doran's was staple for like 90% of ADC starts because it was just so cost-efficient at early levels. By nerfing the heal for ADC, it opens up more diverse build paths. But the significant change is that the current top lane Doran's means you either go all-in and win a trade or you lose your lane entirely. By allowing for at least one extra pot, you can better match the sustain of Doran's Shield starters now.


Doran's Shield is very underrated, IMO. +100 HP to start with is already almost a full health pot, then add up to 1080 healing from the HP5 passive by 10 minutes and it's 1180 health at 10 minutes. Then you can buy 2 more potions on top of it for a total of 1480 HP worth of extra sustain at the start. Compare that with Doran's Blade currently, which is +80 HP. Say you hit every minion in a wave once, that's 30 HP healed every 30 seconds or only 1 HP5. On top of that, you don't get any potions. In short, the sustain is really out-matched, and it's really easy to push a Doran's Blade out of lane if you know what you are doing.

 

Increasing the size of challenger doesn't actually impact the queue times as the queues will still depend on MMR.

They primarily increased the challenger pool size to allow people ample opportunity to get into challenger thus helping with the recent immunity issues.
