Runescape without the GE

Don´t you think runescape was cooler without the ge , when you actually trainied your skills , not to have a decent total lvl to show off , to make your own armour or fish your food etc. when varrock west bank was filled with sections for all kind of trimmed rune armour and rares.

Nowdays skills are useless besided herblore for untradeable pots and worlds are empty but the ge and training spots wich is pretty sad imo.

I´d like to hear your opinion.

Damn I really miss those days without G.E, you could actually see people in falador. Though I must admit G.E is useful, I mean come on - it is a bit annoying to buy pking gear (rune stuff and helm of netz) in parts aight? While you could just go to G.E and get a gear in a min.

 

RS was cooler without the GE, but its more efficient with it.

It killed W2 Fally Park which was like one of the most memorable and awesome things about the older RS, but it was time-consuming and less effective then just making an offer and doing something else in the mean time.

 

One word "forums".

 

Lol most people on forums who would contact me were lurers, "hey I'm woodcutting near Edge, north come to me and trade me"

 

ye... imagine getting all the items you need for a quest manually like DT or One Small Favour.. good luck with that lol

People always sold kits for the common quests anyway.

I hate the GE because someone could max out without saying a single word to anyone. I think that’s what went wrong with the community, back then we had to work together to excel.

 

It's just the nostalgia talking, but I don't think I could play runescape without the ge, just because there's so much misc items that I would need to buy and it would take forever to find a seller for those things. I think the ge, is amazing.

 

way more efficent, but some of my greatest rs memories were standing in fally park after 15 mins of trying to log into world 2, haggling for a robin or whip

 

I agree, there's pro's and con's with both.. Pro's being efficiency and time it takes to trade, con's being less player interaction and over-supply.

I kinda miss Fally-park though.. I used to love haggling with other players and bartering over prices rather than it being an automated transaction :noworry:

 

For your own quests it's not that big a deal though because you're doing it on your time anyways, Dt stuff and One Small Favor have some of the easier things to get at that. The player interaction kind of made getting stuff more fun anyways; if I couldn't get a hold of something, I'd ask a friend if they had said things, etc.

G.E. is no doubt a big help for questing services though. Doing the like 15+ quest orders would be a nightmare, gathering up all that stuff.

One of things that irks my nerves is just how easy it makes manipulating/hoarding. If clans/groups want to buy out an item, they all just place an order for 1400000000000 of whatever item each and go about their business(which is a HUGE annoyance when you're in need of a good amount of said items while that's taking place). Before they had to actually had to interact with a bunch of people to gather up all they wanted, which usually meant that you had a much better chance of finding at least one or more people with the item you needed.

 

I honestly miss the days before the grand exchange and price average.. or whatever its called that shows up during trade. Runescape imo has become a lot less of interacting with others.

 

Lol i had a quest cape way before the g/e. It took much work. Plus i was only level 84

 

No, it's so much easier to obtain items from random people than to buy it from people.

 

I think I enjoyed RS a lot more without the GE because my main method of earning cash then was merchanting items. Idk, things change and it's just natural for human instinct to not like change.

 

Without the G.e there was definitely more player to player interaction. It was part of the old good days.

yea and without it people spoke more alot more bartering going on around the world getting the best prices and fally w 2 <3

 

i do kind of miss it as back in the day you could make 2m/h just flipping with very little effort. and you could buy 200k yew longs from a single person.
but i will admit i do abuse the GE for lazynes. i just wish that it was a 100% open market. trade limits ruin the fun.
