RS Gold Cap

I just read an article about a man beating bejeweled with the max score or. 2.147 billion points or something... Isn't that also the max allowed RS gold?

I think that's really interesting..? Anyone know the connection or was I misled on informatino?

 

I really don't remember the details, but it's got to do with java's max capacity
javascript can handle numbers up to 2^x (don't know the exact value of x, it's 64 iirc) which equals to that number

Technically to the 32nd power, but since the variable is probably signed it reduces it by one power of 2 so it can store an equal negative number. Obviously this is unnecessary for Runescape, but I guess they didn't program it in mind with people ever reaching the max cap. There's really no reason to change it now, though.

 

I remember Jagex saying that they could easily increase the maximum amount of money you can hold if they wanted to, but they thought it would be pointless so they aren't going to.

They could easily double the cap by making it an unsigned integer (though this may be impossible, I'm not sure if they use negative numbers anywhere in their code).

Or they could change all their integers to longs, which would make the max value 2^63 - 1, high enough so that nobody would ever reach it, effectively.
Basically the max value is 9,223,372,036,854,775,807.

However this would very likely reduce the running speed of the game, as that requires a significant amount of memory space.

Na, I'm a junior in college majoring in CS. It's fairly basic stuff, you learn it in one of your first classes.

I'm considering picking up coding scripts for rsbot.org, but it takes a lot of time and there'd be a lot of new jank to remember >.<

Don't even bother, the API is simple and everything has already made. Go script for SCAR (villavu.com) if you want a challenge

 

I know the api is fairly simple, I recently modified a dummy curser to curse the zammy mage because they killed dummies and there wasn't one available for the mage (which surpised me).

I'm not looking for a challenge, the only reason I'd actually code a script is if I wanted to actually use it and it didn't already exist.
But like you said, most of what can be botted (and is useful) has already been done =P

 

That's really interested, I wonder if they'll ever improve the maximum amount of cash ;P
